When I was a teenager (in Huntsville, Alabama) my girlfriend, her brother and I were in her parent's basement playroom. We were holding a seance, to get 'Sally Carter' a town ghost to contact us. It was dark and only one candle was lit, in the middle of the floor. Sally is somewhat famous (she appears in the book "13 Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey"). She died in the late 1800's and her story was felt to be tragic. Apparently she died by the hand of her husband just after the wedding. It was said she was poisoned. The site of her house is about three blocks from where we live today. The house is no longer standing, which is bad because it was a beautiful Victorian House. Back to the seance ... All we did was hold hands in a circle and call out Sally's name, and for her to give us a sign if she was present. Then the picture fell off the wall back way away from where we were sitting. Needless to say we were scared to death! We checked the picture's nail and it was fine. No one was home but us. We still to this day are scared about it (both of us are 38 years old) and I have never done anything like that again. My husband and I still are mystified about ghosts and paranormal today. skeptika's note: If you do decide to have a seance it is a good idea to have a board of some type set up. That way any spirit that tries to has a way of communicating with you. If you don't spirit may have to go to other measures to let you know that it is there (such as dropping pictures off walls!) |
