Ok, this isn't a ghost story (originally
posted to ghosts.org). The entity in question is still
very much on the physical plane and I expect her to
remain so for some time. But it is kind of spooky in a
humorous way. We had a girls night out. There were 10-12 women aged 18-32(?) camping out in a loft over the barn. As many of us have an interest in psychic phenomena, we had brought our Tarot cards, our Ouija boards, our runes and other bits and pieces. Late in the night, several women were trying to forecast their romantic futures via the Ouija board (none of them, by the way, got any useful info). Suddenly the pointer goes nuts. I was sitting in a corner talking to someone, but we all got up to see what was going on. The pointer spells out: -BRING KAT FOOD and continues to do so, no matter what question is asked. Finally someone asks "What cat?" and the pointer heads for the numbers at the bottom of the board. The sitters try to make it go back to the letters, but it won't. They decide to let the pointer go, and it spells -310. Most of us looked puzzled, but I and a few others started to laugh. We knew that my cat's real name is "310", though she is usually called "Tens" or "Old Cat". I said that Tens was pissed because I wasn't home and hadn't fed her any canned food (I only leave out dry food when I'm away from home) plus we now knew she can't spell. Nothing much happened on the board after that & we had a great weekend. Not much of a story, except that, in the weeks after the board session, I noticed that Tens was losing weight and not eating well. The vet diagnosed kidney trouble and put her on medication and special food. But two months later she was barely hanging on. I finally took her in to put her to sleep and the vet said he would try one more thing. He gave her steroids and antibiotics and in twelve hours she began to eat again. It turned out that her gums were infected, just like in old people, and eating had become painful. So once she gained a little weight back, she had surgery to remove her teeth and recovered completely. The spooky thing is that the vet said that this had probably been going on for at least six months, so on the night the Ouija board said "Bring kat food" she would have been in approximately the fourth month of not getting enough to eat because her mouth hurt. She doesn't seem to hold it against me--that was about 4 or 5 years ago and she is still around, still the Empress of Cats, ruling over the two younger ones and in the running for oldest cat in the world. She is currently somewhere between 22 and 26 years old (no-one agrees exactly what year she was born in--it was '72, '74 or '76.) |
