17 May (Monday) (cont'd)

Loch Ness is a beautiful, rippling mass of water surrounded by mostly wood-covered mountains.  It's gorgeous (how many times can I say that? *g*).  Today we visited Urquart Castle, which is a ruin.  It's beautiful, but sad, because it's obvious how grand it once was.  They have a piper who plays there, up on one of the ramparts.  It's a unique place to get to walk around.  We lucked out today and had a sunny day, so it was marvelous to stand at the edge of Urquart and look out on the loch.
