We had gone down to the Feughside Inn last night, where we had a couple of drinks and played some pool. I haven't played in 4 years, but I did pretty good.
We drove from Feughside to Aberdeen, where Angus is from. We went near the beach, where I got to see my first glimpse of the North Sea -- grey and beautiful. There was quite a wind -- the caravan (that's trailer to you US folk) we stayed in at Feughside swayed a bit in the wind.
We drove around Aberdeen for a bit, then parked and walked around some. I really like the place -- the center is full of tall, granite buildings, while further out are more modern residential areas mixed with farmland areas -- mostly filled with cows, though there's an ostrich farm out there too. Angus' mom took us out for dinner, then we went back to check in on our favorite forums and watch HL3.
(Somehow I managed not to get any pics of Aberdeen. So sue me. :))
23 May (Sunday)
Early this afternoon we made the drive from Aberdeen to Edinburgh. The Forth Bridge is beautiful, and the railway bridge is really cool -- unfortunately I didn't have an opportunity to take a picture of it. Edinburgh is big and retains its "old" feel, but seems a bit crowded for my tastes, particularly in the city center. We mostly drove/wandered today, we're going to see more tomorrow. The last thing we did today was watch Resurrection with CL -- it was a Sky movie premiere. A bit gory, but a nice suspense film.
24 May (Monday)
The first thing we did was visit Edinburgh Castle. It's beautiful,
and there's lots to see, as well as a great view of Edinburgh -- the castle
is high on top of an extinct volcano. The Great Hall is one of the
most impressive places -- that's where the armory is kept. :) The
crown jewels of Scotland and Stone of Scone are there too. We stayed
long enough to hear the one o-clock gun get shot off.
