EXPOLive: Welcome everyone! In just a few moments we will be chatting
LIVE with stars from the hit FOX show the X-Files! They are at the
Chicago EXPO and will be taking your questions LIVE! I'm Susan and my
co-host today is going to be Royce. Welcome Royce!

XFilesHst: Hello, I'm here in Chicago. There are about 7,000 X-Files
fans here with us.

EXPOLive: We are about to get started with Dean Haglund, who plays
Lone Gunman "Langly." Click on Participate in Event to send your
questions for Dean!

XFilesHst: We are at beautiful Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. The site
is amazing.

Xfilesgest: Hi everyone. This is Dean.

EXPOLive: Welcome Dean!

Xfilesgest: DH--Thank you. Great to be here.

EXPOLive: Are you ready for the first question?

Xfilesgest: DH--We're ready.

Question: Dean, you've been to every X-File EXPO. What's it like being
on the tour?

Xfilesgest: DH--It's great. I have so much fun. I get to do my show to
lots of people.

Question: Will you be at the rest of the EXPOs?

Xfilesgest: DH--Yes, including Toronto, which has just been added,
right after Washington, D.C. on May 23, I think.

Question: Dean, when you are not acting for the X-Files, what is your
second passion?

Xfilesgest: DH--I'd say doing my standup act and travelling all over
North America is my second passion--though it's similar to acting.

XFilesHst: Does your comedy act have any X-Files References?

Xfilesgest: DH--Yes, in fact I improvise an entire episode of the
X-Files onstage. It's different every time.

Question: For Dean Haglund: Are you married--if not, are you looking
to be married?

Xfilesgest: DH--Yes, I am married. For four years.

Question: Do you have a website?

Xfilesgest: DH--Yes I do. I'm at www.deanx.com. I do my own coding
and answer my own email, tho I'm 3 months behind. I've been busy.

Question: Improvise an episode, that's so cool! But what about comedy
acts where people haven't seen XF?

Xfilesgest: DH--I used to do written 45-minute standup acts, but I got
Bored saying the same thing over and over so these improvised things are
just as funny if you've never seen the show.

XFilesHst: Do you get ideas from fans at events like the X-Files EXPO
for your act?

Xfilesgest: DH--Yes. I take suggestions from the audience and
incorporate them into my show so that every show is completely different.

EXPOLive: Foxtrot31 would like to know: Are you going to stay in
Vancouver when the show moves?

Xfilesgest: DH--I'm going to keep my house there, but I also have a
house in L.A. And, I'm going to continue to do standup around North
America. So, the answer is "yes."

EXPOLive: CleverGrr asks: Dean, would you consider The X-Files to be
the best thing professionally that has ever happened to you?

Xfilesgest: DH--It's opened the most doors. And it's allowed me to
pursue lots of other projects.

EXPOLive: BKPolaris asks: How did you get to become Langly?

Xfilesgest: DH--I auditioned like everyone else. There were 30 of us
in the room when we auditioned for this role. Back then, in the first
season, the Lone Gunmen were going to be in one episode only...and then
fans on the internet responded positively and so they kept bringing us
back.

EXPOLive: BANGEL121 would like to know: What is your favorite episode
Dean?

Xfilesgest: DH--My favorite episode is anything Darin Morgan wrote.
which includes Humbug, Jose Chung, and Clyde Bruckman. As for episodes
we were in, I liked Unusual Suspects, our Origin episode.

XFilesHst: Why didn't Mr. X kill you when he had the chance?

Xfilesgest: DH--He's a sucker for blondes.

EXPOLive: LOL

Xfilesgest: :-)

EXPOLive: QueenB336 asks: Do you like acting?

Xfilesgest: DH--No, it's a drag having FUN everyday!

EXPOLive: Vicenta53 asks: Do you believe in paranormal activity on
earth?

Xfilesgest: DH--Yeah, well THIS is paranormal! In the sense that it's
Beyond normal. But, perhaps the question is "Do I believe ?" To which the
answer is that it would be arrogant of us to think that we're the only
ones here.

EXPOLive: Johhan2U asks: Dean, How do you feel about the evolution of
your character, and the rest of the 'Gunmen'?

Xfilesgest: DH--You mean as we oozed from the primordial slime?

Question: Who is the "evil" Astadourian we keep hearing about at the
EXPOs?

Xfilesgest: DH--I don't know if she's evil, but it's Chris Carter's
assistant. Where did you hear she's evil?

Question: Do you surf the Internet a lot?

Xfilesgest: DH--Some. Unfortunately I don't have as much time as I'd
like to. I'm so busy answering my email.

EXPOLive: Is this your first on line chat? Or do you do many?

Xfilesgest: DH--I don't do that many, but it's not my first.

EXPOLive: ReagansMu asks: What is it like working with David, Gillian,
Mitch, and Chris Carter?

Xfilesgest: DH--It's great! Hilarious. If you've ever seen David on
Larry Sanders, that's pretty much his personality.

XFilesHst: What do you do when your at events like the X-Files EXPO to
unwind?

Xfilesgest: DH--I do standup comedy! And then to unwind from that I
update my web page. It does full circle.

Question: Dean, are the Lone Gunmen going to be in the movie?

Xfilesgest: DH--Yes, we are. And I will tell you everything I know
about the movie. The movie is about five pages, because that's all the
pages I got! So it'll be one scene with the Lone Gunmen and David.

EXPOLive: XxSculder asks: Was the Chicago EXPO fun?

Xfilesgest: DH--Yes. It's been great. I've been to Chicago a number of
times and always have the best shows here. The crowds are great.

EXPOLive: ScullyUSA would like to know: Are you really as computer
smart as the character you play? (For Dean)

Xfilesgest: DH--Well....I still have to pay taxes, meaning I can't
break into the I.R.S., so I'm NOT THAT SMART. But I know my way around
my little laptop.

EXPOLive: QuagmireD aks: Dean, where are you from?

Xfilesgest: DH--Canada. I live in Vancouver.

EXPOLive: Dianagram asks: Will there be a lone gunmen spinoff after
the X-Files is over? :)

Xfilesgest: DH--That would be fun. I thought I heard one of the
producers say a spinoff," but it was at a party, so I think he was saying
"piss off."

Xfilesgest: Tom here.

EXPOLive: Hi Tom!

Xfilesgest: TB--Hi guys. I'm here. Any questions?

EXPOLive: We are joined now by Tom Braidwood who plays Lone Gunman
Frohike!

EXPOLive: Sure Tom! We've got many waiting for you!

Xfilesgest: TB--Go ahead.

XFilesHst: When you're at events like the X-Files EXPO do people try
to give you "Secrets"

Xfilesgest: TB--Not so far, but this is my first EXPO.

EXPOLive: How have you been enjoying it so far?

Xfilesgest: TB--I'm having a terrific time. Really nice city, nice
people and terrific fans.

EXPOLive: Tell us about your production work on the X-Files. How did
you get involved in that?

Xfilesgest: TB--I've been involved since the first episode as one of
the first assistant directors.

EXPOLive: ScullyAgt asks: Tom, Since the Lone Gunmen are my fav
characters, I wanted to know if you guys will be playing a big part in an upcoming x-file.

Xfilesgest: TB--We are in the last show of the season, but of course I
can't give any details.

Question: Tom, what's it like to work "behind the scenes" and" in
front of the camera" on the show?

Xfilesgest: TB--It's always a little awkward. However usually we only
have one or two scenes in a show so we just work around it. On Unusual
Suspects I put aside the assistant directing and focused completely on
that show.

XFilesHst: Tom, they just raised the door and there are thousands of
people looking at us. What's that like to know they came to see you?

Xfilesgest: TB--I know! And I'm looking at them! And wondering, "Is
the truth out there?"

EXPOLive: WBTooFar asks: Tom: Did you ever expect to work on such an
"out-there" show?

Xfilesgest: TB--No. Not in my or many imaginations. Working in
television you go from show to show and job to job. And the X-Files has
been a wonderful surprise for us all. Five years employment on a series
is as close as we'll ever get to a permanent job in this industry.

EXPOLive: UberSammi asks: Tom - Being one of the producers of the
show, how'd you manage to land the part of Frohike?

Xfilesgest: TB--I'm not really a producer. The part was offered to me
by William Graham, who was directing the episode when the Gunmen first
appear. He couldn't find anyone to play Frohike, who he liked, so he
asked me to do it. I said "yes," and the rest is history.

EXPOLive: Agent642 asks: Tom, are you going to be at the Detroit
X-Files EXPO?

Xfilesgest: TB--Not to my knowledge, at this time.

XFilesHst: What do you think of the trailers they've been showing at
the EXPO?

Xfilesgest: TB--I haven't seen them, and I probably shouldn't comment!

EXPOLive: Monkychop asks: do you believe in any of the conspiracies
that the Lone Gunmen put forth?

Xfilesgest: TB--Not really, but at times it does give me pause to
think.

EXPOLive: Beyond Sea asks: Did you have any say in Unusual Suspects???

Xfilesgest: TB--Only to the extent that on set we would discuss with
The director our feelings on the scenes and where we felt the characters
were coming from.

XFilesHst: Why do YOU think Mr. X didn't kill you?

Xfilesgest: TB--Since the episode was set ten years ago, he couldn't
really kill us. But more to the point, we served the purpose for Mr. X
and I don't think he saw us as much of a threat.

Question: What do you think is the BEST part of the Expo? --What can
you "not miss"??

Xfilesgest: TB--I haven't had a chance to be out on the floor and see
everything that's going on, but from my perspective the enthusiasm and
friendliness of the fans is awesome.

EXPOLive: Elena08 asks: (for Tom) Do you enjoy working for the X-Files?

Xfilesgest: TB--Working on the show in both capacities has been a
terrific experience. It's not to be forgotten. For all the frustration
and difficulties in the actual making of the shows, in the end when you
look back you feel proud to be involved.

EXPOLive: The CVS Asks: HEY TOM!!! ARE YOU ANYTHING LIKE FROHICKE?

Xfilesgest: TB--I'm short, I don't shave often, I'm a lousy dresser. I
don't know. I guess there is a resemblance!

EXPOLive: ReagansMu asks: What is it like, playing the character you
play? Do people approach you all the time?

Xfilesgest: TB--I love playing Frohike. I have a lot of fun with it.
Believe it or not the best part is working with the other two guys. I do
get recognized, funnily enough, more in the States than in Canada. It's
nice because everyone appears to be big fans of the show.

XFilesHst: I think there is only one episode set in Chicago. Any plans
for more?

EXPOLive: Agent642 asks: Tom, have you ever really messed up one of
your lines and had one of those great Blooper moments?

Xfilesgest: TB--Regarding Chicago, not that I know of. Messed up my
lines? Oh yeah! More than once.

EXPOLive: Pendrell asks: is the Expo coming to england?

Xfilesgest: TB--Don't know what the overseas plans are for Expo.

XFilesHst: As we sit here, people are addressing you as Frohike does
that bother you?

EXPOLive: F Hammy asks: When is the movie going to come out?

Xfilesgest: TB--No, even the crew on the show refer to me pretty much
as Frohike. The movie is being release in mid-June.

EXPOLive: KelandPet asks: Tom, when the show moves to LA will you
continue in your role as the first assistant director?

Xfilesgest: TB--No. When the show moves on I'll be staying in
Vancouver. Cross-border employment has a number of problems.

EXPOLive: Iqueadge asks: What's it like juggling your off camera work
with playing Frohike?

Xfilesgest: TB--It doesn't seem to be too much of a problem to me. The
production has always made it easy to keep both jobs going.

EXPOLive: Frohike17 asks: Tom...Is there any way you would be able to
attend more expos or conventions???...with your first AD duties..I know
it is hard...

Xfilesgest: TB--It wouldn't be a problem, because the last episode for
this season will finish shooting in a couple of weeks. And I'll be
looking for work. You know of any opportunities?

EXPOLive: Roseprism asks: Do you ever surf the net to see what people
say about the Lone Gunmen?

Xfilesgest: TB--Oh yeah. I check it out. I visit the Fohike site, the
Lone Gunmen Estrogen site. The Fox site and many others.

EXPOLive: Muldrsbab wants to know: Tom - is Frohike ever going to get
a girlfriend?

Xfilesgest: TB--I think he pines for Scully.

EXPOLive: Versare asks: Do you enjoy acting or directing more, for the
show that is?

Xfilesgest: TB--Both facets of my work are pleasurable in different
ways. If I had to choose, I suppose acting would be the way to go.

EXPOLive: Cerebrum1 asks: How was working on the movie different from
Doing the regular show???

Xfilesgest: TB--Not really that much different. It had the same
feeling as the show which I guess makes sense. And it took a little bit
longer to shoot.

EXPOLive: FMulder15 wants to know: Tom, do believe in the existance
of extra terrestrial life?

Xfilesgest: TB--Tough question. I've been asked that one a lot. Don't
know if I really believe in extra terrestrials but at the same time, I
don't assume that we're the only intelligent life. If we are, we're in
trouble!
