Boranna Ferrin, blond of hair and brown of eyes, was born in a small, country village in Manetheren 132 years ago. When she was six her older brother, Tehr, married the daughter of a cousin of the Manetheren Rayal Family and Tehr took his sister to live in the royal palace with him and his new bride. Even in her new glittering surroundings, Boranna retained the country simplicity she was used to.
She was very bold as a child and caused no end of trouble for her brother and his wife, Kelaihe. In the palace schools she quickly learned to read, and began to spend all of her free time reading, which was a relief to her brother at the time. Boranna became an impulsive reader, sometimes locking herself in her room for days to read. When she came out she would calmly proceed to talk the ear off her brother and sister-in-law. One of her only friends in the palace was the son of a gaurdsmen, who taught her how to fight with daggers.
However, her brother found out about the lessons and quickly put an end to them, but not before Boranna became quite proficient wielding daggers. When she got older, Boranna began to spend alot of time in the Manetheren Royal Library, helping the Librarians anyway she could and of course snatching moments to read a newly discovered book in a hidden corner. When she was eighteen, her sister-in-law arranged a marriage for her. However, both Boranna and her new husband found the arrangement unsuitable and after a year discontinued the marriage.
On her own now, Boranna continued her work in the Royal Library, doing advanced research and translating old documents. At nineteen she drew upon Saidar for the first time. Staying late one night translating an old book in an ancient section of the Library, an old shelf collapsed sending several tons of books falling down towards Boranna's head.
Terrified and with no time to think, Boranna found herself lying on the floor, books scattered around her instead of on her. Later she knew that she had channeled a dome of Air to protect herself. Several days later, she fell sick. Putting two and two together, Boranna knew that she had drawn on the One Power and making a quick decision, packed her belongings (including her sizable book collection and left with a group of merchants for Tar Valon. Upon reaching the city she was accepted as a novice. Older than most of the students, Boranna remained reclusive and set apart. When she finally became Aes Sedai she choose the Brown Ajah, to no one's surprise. Thin with an almost frail appearance, Boranna was a bit of a change from her sisters. She was just as serious in her studies and her work, but she had a sense of humor. When she was 85 she became Keeper of the Library. It is a position she still enjoys today (especially when there are new novices to torture...umm I mean help *g*). She hasn't bonded a Warder yet, although she probably needs one as she constantly forgoes sleep, food, and other vital necessities when reading and working. Boranna is always to be found in the Tower Library, and it is whispered among novices that she never leaves it!
