Carmil Mashiendra

Citizen of Tar Valon

Carmil Mashiendra was born somewhere in Almoren.  He is the son of Deran and Saramia Mashiendra, a pair of peddlers who traveled between Al´cair´rahien and the Aiel Waste, selling books to the Aiel. Carmil was born and grow up in the wagons, always on the move. Then he was five, his mother died in a disease, and his father had to raise his son all by himself. The life on the roads taught Carmil to track, hunt and hide.  He learned that if you are a peddler, almost everyone you meet wants to cheat you in one way or another. His fathers wagondrivers helped his father to raise the boy, teaching him some unusual thing like theft and knifefighting. All this lead to that Carmils view of things often is "Better that I cheat them before they cheat me" The only people he trusts are his family, his fathers men, and the Aiel.  Aiel have a view a little different from wetlanders. Theft or cheating arent allowed, so the only people he ever met who didnt try to cheat him were Aiel.

Carmil became good friend with some Aiel children when he was a boy, and they taught him some of their games; running fast and fighting without weapons. After a while, he became quite good at them. Then they grew older, Carmil and his Aiel friends grew apart, but he still is in touch with his near-brother, a Brother of the eagle named Gauldin.

Then Carmil was 18, his father asked him to go to Tar Valon and try to find some rare books that the Wise Ones had asked for.  He went, and when he came to Tar Valon, he stay at his aunt Dranis inn, "the Drunken Mule". To pay his aunt for the bed and the food, he begin to help her at the inn, and he soon found out that the guests liked the skills he had learned in the Aiel Waste - to be able to jump up to the ceiling while spinning in the air and more.  He found the books his father wanted and sent them to him, but he himself stayed in Tar Valon.  He soon found out that his aunt didnt had her inn in the best part of the city, and he began to help her, keeping an eye out after trouble, be it drunkards or the citywatch.

Now is Carmil 19 years old.  He is quite short, slim and pale. He has dark eyes and uncut, half-long, dark hair, and he usually dresses in simple, worn-out clothes. Once, he promised his nearbrother to never wear any others boots than the ones Gauldin just had given him. Then he lost the boots in a river, he simply choosed to go barefoot, until he meets Gauldin again.  People look twice at a man going barefoot in Tar Valon, but he doesnt care.  Carmil always wears at least one knife, but it may be hidden.
