Born in the small town of Quarry Way outside of the capital city of Manetheren, Jalinda grew up a farmer's daughter. She was always more responsible than most children in the village however, and she was entrusted with most tasks others balked at. Jalinda had her first contact with the One Power when she was fourteen. While swimming in the Waterwood near her home she came upon powerful rapids that threatened to take her under. Desparate to escape, she managed to push the water way, not knowing what she was doing or how. She escaped the water and became very ill a few days later. Extremely strong-willed and intelligent, Jalinda became the village Wisdom at the young age of nineteen. She was the youngest Wisdom ever, but she handled it better than any of her predecessors. When visiting the capital city for a conference of village Wisdoms an Aes Sedai sensed her immense potential and invited her to the White Tower. Jalinda accepted, and went through four years as a novice and four as Accepted. She chose the Green Ajah, the Battle Ajah, pledging herself to remain steadfast against the Shadow. She was sent to the Blightborder to defend against Trolloc raids in Aramamelle and became noted for her ferocity and strength in the Power. Word spread that no Trolloc charge broke through the ranks of soldiers if Jalinda Al'Vere was the Aes Sedai present. Her stengths in the One Power lie in Water and Spirit, which she wields with a deadly accuracy. She also has the Talent of Cloud Dancing (controlling the weather). Currently she has no Warder bonded.
