Jeren is from the city of Manetheren itself. When she learned that she could channel she went to Tar Valon for training. Shortly after being raised to the Green Ajah it was found that her brother could channel. The Red Ajah brought him to the Tower, where he was promptly gentled. This disillusioned here and she wandered around for some time, before reaching the Blight. While there, she saw the Eye of the World, and when the Green Man told her about Aes Sedai cleansing saidin for the Eye, she vowed that she would find a way to cleanse saidin, so that no man would have to go through the the horrible suffering of the taint. She returned to Tar Valon and she buried herself in the Tower Library. Three months later she accidently overheard a meeting of the Black Ajah, where they discussed the "coming wars" and who would go to Shayol Ghul to become Dreadlords. Knowing that there were both male and female Drealords in the War of Power, she decided to join the Black Ajah to further her research. She confronted a Yellow sister she recognised from the meeting, and demanded to join the Black Ajah. The Yellow sister said yes, and soon Jeren will travel to Shayol Ghul to become a Dreadlord.
