The word 'quirky' does not even come close to describing Quigley's personality. His nuances and mannerisms are so foreign to most beings that others often have difficulty understanding him, much less relating to him. Quigley prefers it this way as it gives him more time to work on his latest invention.
Quigley's appearance is similar to most gnomes. His white hair is long but tied back to keep it out of his way. His clothes are chosen for functionality rather than aesthetics and are thus, filled with many pockets and pouches in which to store tools and supplies. A constant odor of sulfur, ashes on his hands and face, and blacksmith apron tell everyone he meets that he spends nearly all his time in his laboratory or at his forge. |
Quigley was one of the few that was awoken by the Old Ones shortly after the Great Cataclysm. His inquisitive mind nearly exploded upon seeing a world filled with scientific phenomenon to explain. He quickly left all the others behind to begin his journeys to unmask the secrets of the universe. It was only after the War of Survival had been brewing for several years that a high elf lord found him and enlisted his aid. Many of Quigley's inventions helped to fortify the defenses of those arrayed against Morgoth and probably saved more lives than any other one factor in the war. After the war's end, the Valar granted Quigley the title and power of a High Lord of the Light. Quigley could care less about the title or his responsibilities but was thrilled with the extra power and extended lifespan to continue working on his inventions. |
