Description | Background
One of the most powerful of all the Maiar, Sauron is highly skilled in all crafts and a master of diplomacy. Although combat is one of his lesser skills, he still ranks among the most powerful of all Kragora. He appears as an inexplicably elusive image, with a black and mottled "surface" which burns with an intense but often invisible fire. A flaming Eye, however, is ever-present, either in mind or in the viewer's clear, unbelieving vision. | Sauron was originally chief among Aule's people before becoming seduced by Morgoth. Since then, he has served as Morgoth's chief lieutenant and even temporarily taken over his rule during Morgoth's absence. Sauron feeds on misery and the unbridled anticipations of pain and suffering which grip his countless victims.
