Special Combat Rules

Multiple Defenses: When a character reaches level 6 in a combat skill, they are allowed to make extra blocks after they have used all of their actions for that round.  Each block is an additional cumulative -20 from the original deduction for multiple actions. This allows a greatly skilled character the ability to combat 2 lesser skilled opponents and still have a chance to win.

For example, Eonwe, Herald of the Valar, is the consummate warrior with all weapons skills at level 9.  However, according to the rules, he can still only take 6 actions per round.  Therefore, even though his Sword skill Rating is an astounding 247, if he is beset by two fairly skilled warriors, each with 4 attacks, Eonwe would most likely lose (or at least take a lot of damage).  Even if he used all 6 actions to block, he could only block 6 of their combined 8 attacks.  With this rule, Eonwe can use some of his outstanding sword skill to perform additional blocks at -20 a piece.  At the beginning of the round, Eonwe declares 6 actions.  He uses all 6 for attack and performs them all at 187 (247-60).  His opponents make successful block roles on all 3 of their first 3 actions.  Now, they each have one action left which they choose to attack with.  If the first scores a successful hit, Eonwe declares a special block for an additional -20.  He still easily makes his roll under 167 (previous 187-20).  The second opponent also scores a hit and Eonwe makes a second special block at an additional -20 (for 147).  Unless he rolls a Bad Break, he still makes the block.
