X-Men Unlimited #22 (3/99) - Believing Kitty to have had an easy life due to her pretty face, Marrow throws a dead rat into her bed while she's sleeping and before long the two are arguing. It comes out that while retrieving the rats from the sewers, Marrow witnessed a terrorist group led by Flag-Smasher intending to blow up part of New York. The X-Men head down into the sewers (with Marrow as guide!) to stop the threat. When the team splits up, Kitty opts to go with Marrow. The two continue to bicker and fight over humanity and Marrow argues that since Kitty is so beautiful, she grew up blind to the fact that humans are selfish and cruel. Eventually the two encounter the terrorists (as do the other X-Men) and soon the terrorists are defeated leaving the X-Men to diffuse the bomb. Marrow senses that the REAL bomb is elsewhere and goes off to find it with Kitty close behind. The two find Flag-Smasher and the real bomb, but when Kitty decides she must sacrifice her life in order to phase herself and the bomb under the ground, Marrow knocks her unconscious. She stabs Flag-Smasher, leaving him wounded near the bomb, and he is forced to diffuse it in order to live. As the X-Men return home, Marrow carries an unconscious Kitty in her lap and strokes her hair.
