In the days of the Second City Caine looked to his Childer to chose who would rule in his absence. He chose Ventrue. Since then the descendants of Ventrue have seen it as their duty and their birthright to lead the rest of the Kindred and were one of the leading forces behind the creation of the Camarilla. They are masters of manipulation with their twin mental Disciplines of Dominate and Presence giving them much power over Kindred and Kine alike. In Kindred society Clan Ventrue has more Princes ruling cities than any other clan and the in mortal society many politicians are unknowingly funded by Ventrue donations. Many businesses are also owned by the clan, as well as less obvious fund raisers such as charities where they may syphon off funds for their own use. To a Ventrue image is everything. Not physical beauty but power, control and all the things that go with it. They pride themselves on being a united clan and will never openly work against a clan member.

They will often give help to newly embraced neonates in the form of both loans and favours. Especially when they know that the investment will reward them handsomely. Advancement within the clan can be slow. Many of the elders are very set in their ways and will not accept or even acknowledge a clan mate who is female, black or from a lower social class. This attitude does not exist among the younger Ventrue who tend to judge on ability rather than accident of birth. As a sign of their refinement, Ventrue develop very selective feeding habits. Usually the first blood that they drink becomes the only type they can drink, no matter how scarce the source. Because of this they often cultivate a herd of mortals so that their chosen blood type is always available.
