Head-hunting on a Budget

or

How to make a prop head

This project was started because of a conversation between SpookyMuFu and myself. Scott had long talked about his wish to have a full sized Frankenstein for his annual halloween party but found that the prices for a full size prop of this nature posed certain problems. After all not many could afford 2,500 or so for a party prop without making certain sacrifices such as giving up eating.
Convinced that a haunter should be able to have a little fun and still eat we started discussing how it might be done.  Such things as making a pvc frame body and shopping the local thrift marts for the duds would certainly bring the costs down. But one thing keep popping up the head. Scott being the  guy he is just wanted it to be perfect (not an unreasonable request for a true halloween type) but the masks available just didn't seem to cut it. He wanted that karloff  classic monster look not just the run of the mill guy with bolts in his neck.
I told my good friend that if he wasn't in a hurry I would see what I could come up with.  And Frank here is the result. Since it looked feasible to accomplish it in the time we had we started to set the priorities.
  1.  Must be a reasonably good version of a Karloff classic Frankenstein.
  2.  Must be with in a reasonable budget.
What follows is the result of that struggle between keeping the cost as low as possible and making it scary enough to induce hart seizure.
