Candles Light the Darkness

It is better to light one candle
than to curse the darkness,
someone said.

I believe to walk in the sunlight
is far better than to live in the night,

To let your light shine
and bring hope to a dying world,

To be the gift you are
and bring joy to hopeless hearts,

To be a friend to the solitary
and never a foe,

To build up each other
and never tear down,

To encourage a soul
to be all it can be,

That life always gives life
that the wounded may heal.

We are candles of hope, of mercy, of peace.
