Familiar faces cloud the picture in a season-
ending cliffhanger that centers on a metallic
object with mysterious symbols found in West
Africa. A biologist (Michael Chinyamurindi)
brings the artifact to the U.S. to consult with a
colleague (Murray Rubinstein), who claims to
have an almost identical piece. Both believe the
objects somehow contain proof that life originated
on Mars. When both scientists disappear,
Skinner assigns the case to Scully and Mulder
(Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny). Scully
finds reason to believe the artifacts are fake,
while Mulder is suddenly plagued by voices in
his head - and an odd cognitive sense. (1:00)
