HAD Questions and Answers

How many extras were there for the "Hollywood AD" filming?

There were supposed to be about 250 people at the premeire but it didn't look like that many to me.  The fact that they kept changing our seats and filming us in different places leads me to think that they were trying to make it look like there was more people than were actually there.

Was it indoors or out?  Warm or cold?  What were you sitting on?  Was it comfortable or uncomfortable?

We shot indoors at a movie theater on the Fox Lot.  It's the same theatre from "All About Eve" and apparently Fox's pride and joy.  There was extra secruity around the theatre.  The day was warm and they kept pumping stage smoke inside the theatre so inbetween filming they turned on the AC so we could breath.  We were sitting in the theatre seats which were very comfortable.  Several extras slept in the chairs inbetween takes.

What was the food like?  (I mean the craft services/meals/ etc., not the popcorn -- I assume that was fine.

The food was fabulous and there were plenty of choices.  The popcorn was air popped with no salt or butter.

Was it hard convincing them to let you see Scully's apartment and Mulder's office?

I have a way of sweet-talking myself into most places I want to get into.  That plus the fact that many of the crew members know me by name didn't make it too hard to get in.  It's really not hard to get whatever you want, you just need to know how to do it.

How did they control when & where you could take pictures?

I didn't even take my camera in when we were filming.  You don't want to get in trouble while you're working or overstep anyone's generosity.  Once they let us in the other sets, I asked if it was okay to take pictures.  You'll notice I don't have any pictures from the set we were working on.  When we wrapped at the end of the day several people took cameras out of their pockets and asked crew members to take pictures of them on the set.  While they were doing that, I was taking pictures with David so I don't have any inside the theatre.  If anyone else does and is willing to share, please
send it to me and I'll put it up.  You'll notice also that I don't have any pictures from the actual set of En Ami.  I took pictures off the set before I got there.

How *did* you get to be an extra on that show and on "En Ami"?  Di you have to sign up with a casting agency & everything?

Yes.  On the set of Triangle my friends and I were there for so long every crew member knew us by the end of the second day.  One of the A.D.'s told us what to do to get signed up to work as an extra and then helped us do it.  (Incidently you can see him at the end of the DD music video.  He's the one who comes in and wakes up David)

When did you find out that HAD was going to film on Wednesday instead of Monday?

The previous Thursday.  Production was delayed because Gillian was sick.

Was the person who got to be one of the HAD extras by winning the Broadcasting Training Programs's charity auction for $1, 600 given special attention?

I didn't even know about the auction but I didn't see anyone recieving special attention.  Many of the extras were family and friends of the crew.

Were all the inside pages of the programs the same (eg. that same page xeroxed over & over), or are there other different pages inside?)

They all had the same basic information but were made to look slightly different so no one would realize by just glancing at it that is was the same page over and over again.

Did they take away the programs & bowls at the end (I guess they didn't take away *all* of them if you were able to scan yours ;-), or should we expect to see some of the *non*-fan extras' programs/bowls trickling onto eBay soon?  ;-D

Yes they did take away the programs and bowls.  At the end of the day, one of the A.D.'s asked for all the family and friends of crew members to gather around.  She then gave all of them programs.  Again I managed to sweet talk one of my own.  Funny you should mention eBay because the props manager had been joking about that very thing.

Who were you/where are you in "En Ami"?

An extra again.  Watch the opening scene - as the car approaches the house watch the view from inside the car looking out seeing the protesters.  You'll see a reporter, then it switches to the other side and you see a woman, a poster then me!  I'm visible two other places as well but that's the best shot.

Can you tell us more about the filming of "En Ami"?

The rain was not pumped in or fake at all.  That rain was real and there was lots of it.  We stood in the pouring rain for six hours, completely soaked to the skin.  Everyone was really nice though.  Once in a while in between takes we stood under the porch roof where Scully walked up to the house.  Other times we waited in the school bus parked along the road.  But most of the time we simply stood in the rain.  At one point the rain cleared briefly and the sun shone through but to maintain continuity they hosed down the car.  The cop cars had the heater going full blast so a few people sneaked into the cars whenever they could.

What was it like/what did you do/what did they do to you (eg. do the makeup people have to touch you up to make the exras look a certain way?)

The extras were to show up camera ready.  Meaning, in full costume and makeup.  We also had to bring a couple changes of clothes in case they didn't like what you were wearing.  After you check in you go to wardrobe where they okay you or make you change.  Then you go to hair and makeup where they okay you or fix you up.  In between takes they would occasionally come by and touch up the hair or makeup of people in the camera view.

Can you please, please tell us MUCH more about the filming of "HAD"?  Not so much what happens in the scenes (since we'll see those anyway on TV ;-), but rather, more behind-the-scenes type stuff, bloopery things, anything that happened off-camera & between takes?

I've started putting them up on the
previous page.

Did David and Tea hang out together the whole time?

David had a lot to do so he didn't really have time to relax.  Tea was only there briefly so there wasn't really much to see.

Was David's baby there?

Not that I saw.  But I did get to talk to David's driver.

If you have any questions you'd like answered,
send them to me.
