The Dolphins of pern are almost identical save for the fact
that the pernese kind are sentiant and capable of speach.
When the first settlers
came to pern, they brought 25 dolphins who voulenteered for the mission. A dolphin is not a pet but a partner too its dolphineer wich is like an ocianographer.
