May 2000: Prophecies that the End is Near.
planetnav.gif

May 2000 will make Y2K seem like... just another day. This is the consensus of the doomsayers. May 5-16 the sun and six planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, will line up setting off a shift in the Earth's poles. Disaster will follow. Earthquakes, volcanoes, plunging world economy and the Age of Aquarius will devastate life as we know it.

Astronomers already have their hands full. Moving their high-tech equipment to safety? No, preparing to debunk the end-of-the-world predictions. Just like in 1982, 1962 and will have to do again in 2020.(We Hope). Unfortunately, the cause of all our apprehension won't even be visible, the sun will be blocking the view from earth. "It's very pretty, " said Dennis Mammana, astronomer at San Diego's Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. " I think that's the limit to the significance of the thing."

Still the doomsayers strongly believe the end of the world is coming! The book, "5/5/2000: Ice the Ultimate Disaster" predicts this ill-fated alignment and increased solar activity will setup a chain of events that will cause the Earth's crust to shift and the poles to move.

The author Richard Noone calls it, "... geological Armageddon." "You'd have volcanism going on globally. Earthquakes beyond the scale of anything Richter ever dreamed of. Tsunamis hundreds of feet high, sweeping hundreds of miles inland." Noon has moved his family to Georgia and has prepared for the worst.

His book attributes lost civilizations, frozen Wooley Mammoths and many other

Fascinating Mysteries

to " pole shifting." Astronomers say no one has anything to worry about because the extra pull and stretching from the planets alignment is but a fraction of the moon's pull.

Astrologer's agree with Noone. The planetary alignment brings in the age of Aquarius. This is not good because the " pileup of energy" will cause " some very serious reversals in the stock market," said astrologer Norman Arens. He also predicts extreme natural disasters an a movement away from Christianity.
