I Spy
German spy, Peter Karpin, was arrested by French Intelligence and the beginning of World War I. The French managed to kept his incarceration a secret for the next three years by supplying false information to his superiors. Funds sent to France for Karpin were intercepted and used in the purchase of an automobile.
Karpin escaped in 1917 only to be run down by a car in 1919. The same car purchased by France, using the German money sent for Karpin.
