Ball Room Girl

She floats across the floor,

Almost in mid-air

And you have your eyes upon her

Her eyes, her face, her hair

Your heart is pounding fiercely,

Your throat is far past dry

You want to ask her for this dance

Heaven knows you have to try

Suddenly, she comes over

To the spot where you now stand

With a smile she greets you

And gently takes your hand

You're on the silver dance floor

And before you can even blink

The next dance is just starting

And you have no time to think

But for some odd reason,

None of this feels quite right

And as you look around you

There's not a person in sight

Finally, glancing at your partner

You smile turns to a frown

She disappears before your eyes

Forever letting you down

You tell yourself she couldn't be trusted

You hate yourself for not being strong

But your Ball Room Girl was so tempting

You just couldn't have been wrong

Now, the ball is over

The night has just begun

As you search for Sarah

You know she is the one

The one who left you at the party

Standing all alone

Never even saying goodbye

Leaving you for home

Back Home
