The Whole Truth

MISERY

Part I: The Beginning

Misery was born in the small town of Morgantown, West Virginia. When he was just Seven years old, both of his parent's were killed in an automobile accident. Having no other family with which to turn too, he was taken in by friends of the family, the Tennant's.

He and adopted brother Tom Tennant both shared a passion for the sport of professional wrestling, and strived to try and become a part of the business. Misery worked many odd jobs after school during his teenage years including pizza cook, telemarketing, and convenience store cashier. Finally having saved up enough money, he and Tom enrolled themselves in a professional school on Misery's 18th birthday.

The two of them did quite well for themselves, spending most of there time away from the school practicing with one another, and the two younger Tennant brothers, who also enjoyed the business. Finally after nearly a full year of training, and working small shows under the school's banner, both men were offered a position in a Japanese wrestling promotion.

At the time Misery was involved in his first serious relationship, and could not bear the thought of leaving her behind in the states. So in one of those "true love" stories, she packed up and left everything behind to go with him. Once in Japan, on the small salary he was making as a rookie gaijin, the two of them ended up sharing an apartment with Tom Tennant!

Tennant was given a singles push under the nickname "The Survivor" and was involved in a lot of the Japanese style death matches. While Misery was teamed up with an older American wrestler in the promotion as one half of a tag team called, Damage Incorporated. He was given the moniker of Spinebreaker, and his partner was Torturer. They both were put into leather outfits and face paint in a rip off of the film "The Road Warrior"

While Misery absolutely despised the gimmick, he made the best of it, as the team went on to win that league's version of the tag team titles on three different occasions with in six months of his arrival. But sooner than later, as always, things went wrong. Torturer was on the receiving end of a botched powerbomb, and ended up breaking three vertebrae in his neck, effectively ending his career, and the tag team.

About this time Tennant was contacted by a North American promotion called the IWL. They were offering big money, and it would be a return to the states. Tennant quickly accepted the offer. Thus Misery was stuck in Japan, with a gimmick he hated, no partner, and only the love of his life to keep him happy. To make matters worse, Misery suffered his first big injury in this time period, blowing out his left knee.

Months pass since Tennant leaves Japan. Misery, still under the ridiculous gimmick, has returned from injury and begun feuding with one of the top stars in the promotion, Nishuwa Eiko. There feud has been doing big business and the fans have been eating it up.

But as fate would have it, in the IWL Tennant needed back up for a feud he was involved in, and the promotions management offered to bring in his adopted brother as that back up. Misery jumped at the idea, especially after hearing he would be allowed to choose his gimmick. He went to his next scheduled show, and ended his feud with Eiko, losing cleanly to him in a two out of three falls match. After that he packed up all of his things, took his girl and left Japan.

Part II: It All Falls Apart

The question at this point became what kind of gimmick to choose, a question which was answered in a strange way. On the plane ride home from Japan, stuck in the seats made for guys half his size things were quite uncomfortable. When asked by his girlfriend what was wrong, he told her that the seats were too small, and this was going to be one miserable ride. She laughed and told him he should call himself Misery and bitch about things. They both laughed about it afterwards, and let it drop.

Back in the states, Misery got to visit his with his adopted family and childhood friends. After escorting his love to the airport to go home, and see her family and friends. She was scheduled to debut in the IWL as his manager in two weeks time.

That would be the last time they saw one another, as her plane crashed during the landing, killing everyone on board.

The IWL being quite understanding, told him to take all of the time he needed after the tragedy. In this time, having seemingly given up on life, Misery let his hair grow out, and ceased pretty much all contact with anyone. He often thought of just quitting the business, and going back to being a normal guy.

Nearly six months later, things would once again change. During Tom's off time from IWL, he had come home, and drug Misery out of the house and out to a bar. It was there where he met Melissa. The two of them hit it off quite well, and she would end up helping Misery regain his passion for life, and for wrestling.

Part III: Taking America by Storm

The little joke on the airplane had not been forgotten, so when the IWL debut occurred, it occurred as Misery. Upon the debut, Tom broke away from his stable, The Regulators, and joined Misery and a man called Blackheart as the Horde.

The three of them ran roughshod over the promotion, with Misery getting his first taste of American gold, as he won the IWL Intercontinental Title. But as they say, all good things come to an end. A month later the IWL shut it's doors, thanks to some sneaky money endeavors by there front office.

From there Tom, Misery and Melissa moved on too a league known originally as World Web Wrestling, but better known under there second name, Dangerously Brutal Wrestling.

It was here that Misery won his first Heavyweight Title, claiming the DBW Title as his own, in a grueling sixteen man tournament. Soon after the tournament, Misery and "The Survivor" engaged in a bitter feud with Hazard and the "Walking Nightmare" Rage. This feud should be noted for a couple reasons. In it we saw the wrestling debuts of Thorn, and Big Daddy Tool, the first incarnation of the stable W.O.O.D., and the attack that made Misery and Tennant, the gods of hardcore wrestling fans everywhere, when they strung up Rage with barbed wire to a cross, and then hoisted him on a crane, to hang there for nearly two hours.

Soon after the wars with Hazard and Rage ended, another feud began… a feud that would span countless years, countless federations, and countless hospitals. Misery and Tom Tennant went to war.

The DBW was soon to close, due to a lack of funding. But not before Misery and Tennant had one last match, the match that both men agree cemented there status as stars in the United States. It was the infamous Exploding Barbed Wire Dynamite Cage match. We will just say it was not pretty, and both men felt like hell for weeks afterward. It is available on the Misery/Tennant: "Brotherly Love My Ass" DVD

It should also be noted that during this time Misery and Melissa were married.

Part IV: Total Elimination

From the IWL and the DBW, Tom and Misery has accumulated a decent sum of money. They decided to put it to use, by starting there own federation, Total Elimination Wrestling. The point was to take hardcore wrestling, mix it with the best high flyers in the business, and create a hybrid that everyone could enjoy.

It worked for the most part, as TEW became a huge presence in the wrestling world quickly. But, as is the story of Misery's career, all good things must come to an end. Tennant left TEW sighting being burnt out on the business. Misery did his best to run things on his own, but soon tired of it and shut the league down.

TEW was twice re-opened, once under just Misery, and once under just Tennant. Both runs were mildly successful, but neither could touch the first. Of interest though, during Tennant's run, Misery was actually able to capture the title that he created, becoming TEW World Champion.

The rich history of TEW is chronicled elsewhere, so we will not rehash it here. It is now time to move on to the reason this is being written.

Part V: Unified Wrestling League

Around the time of the original TEW opening, another league opened its doors to the wrestling world. They called themselves the Unified Wrestling League, and were being run by two life long friends from Ohio, Chris Beacom and Adam Lucas. This UWL was the polar opposite of TEW, priding themselves on mat and submission wrestling, as well as boasting a cruiserweight division the likes of which had never been seen in the United States.

Misery and "The Survivor" entered the UWL now known the world over for there exploits in garbage hardcore and dangerous death matches. Most people expected them to be outshone, and outclassed by the other wrestlers in the promotion, but those people were dead wrong. Both men did well, proving themselves to be something other than bump takers, and spot machines, positioning both of them near the top of the card.

Misery began a feud with a man who called himself of all things, Pumpkinhead. For the first time in his career, there was an opponent who Misery could not get a handle on, and he was soundly defeated by Pumpkinhead numerous times.

Also during this time, Misery defeated the Raging Demon to claim his first gold in the UWL, the Frenzy title. Then a month after that, he defeated veteran J.T. Lawless for the UWL Intercontinental Title.

This Intercontinental title would turn out to be the springboard for Misery in the UWL, as eleven days later in a three way dance featuring Misery, Legion and Tom Tennant, Misery was crowned the UWL World Heavyweight Champion.

Part VI: Overcoming the Boogie Man?

This good fortune was not to last, as his nemesis, and personal bogey man, Andrew Black, the wrestler formerly known as Pumpkinhead, upended up him for the title just a few weeks later.

But, once again the tides were going to change, as Misery was granted a return match with the monstrous Black, and on October 22nd, 1999, Misery defeated his personal demon and claimed his 2nd UWL World Title.

Over the rest of the year, Misery lost the World Title again, only to become a Three time champion by defeating UWL mainstay Preacher. Then the war between Misery and UWL President Beacom began, that saw Misery forfeit the Title to Beacom, in order to stop the constant bullshit he was putting up with.

Misery closed out 1999, by winning his first Tag Team Championship with long time friend Tool. There reign would not last however as Misery turned on his long time comrade in order to pursue what he believed was rightfully his, the UWL World Title.

Part VII: 2000, what a crappy year.

After a few uneventful months at the beginning of 2000, Misery finally achieved his goal and became a 4 time UWL Champion by defeating Sal Ubri for the title. He would go on to defend the title for quite some time before finally dropping it.

Things were going well for Misery in the UWL, but his personal life was falling apart. His marriage to Melissa was becoming more strained by the day, as the toll of life on the road began to eat at them. Things would not get better.

During the summer Misery became engaged in a heated feud with the Great Canadian Polar Bear. A feud that saw both men dish out savage beatings to one another, a feud that saw the Polar Bear, injure Melissa and her injure her badly.

Misery would go on to defeat the Polar Bear for his 5th UWL World Title in August. Hard fought matches, and a well deserved title reign, were the ending to an excellent feud. But as is the norm in this story, all good things come to an end.

Shortly after winning the title, the same knee that was injured years before in Japan, was once again destroyed in the ring. Misery had to drop the title, and go in for surgery to hopefully fix the badly damaged knee. It was during the recovery from this surgery that Misery was served with the divorce papers from Melissa.

A bitter court case ensued that ended as always with the woman taking the man to the cleaners. No to mention the fact that the knee was not recovering as well as hoped, retirement was looking like an imminent possibility.

Part VIII: 2001, another Tennant year.

At the beginning of 2001, the UWL's development territories were taking off. UWL Mexico and UWL Japan, were gaining in popularity as some bigger names found there way there, and newer names became favorites.

Tom Tennant after a falling out with President Beacom found himself relegated to UWL Mexico. Making the best of the situation, he soon found himself as the Outlaw's Crown Champion, Mexico's highest title. He was also having troubles with UWL Vice President David Renner.

Unbeknownst to Tom, Renner contacted his old rival Misery to come in and help him screw Tennant over. Anxious to get back to the UWL, Misery did just that, earning himself a ten minute reign as the Outlaw Crown Champion.

Misery would continue to rehab the knee, as the various divisions of the UWL, combined too become just two, International and Mainland. In this time frame, Misery made his return. Along with his adopted brother, Tom Tennant, they would capture the UWL Unified World Tag Team Titles.

A bit further down the line, the reformation of the Second Coming stable occurred with Misery being a part of it. In a play of power, the Second Coming took over the control of the UWL. Misery would be somewhat in charge of the International division at this time. Finally becoming disgusted with the tactics of his fellow team mates, he found a way to place the old regime back in power.

On the same night he screwed over the Second Coming to save the UWL, he also faced his oldest rival and greatest friend in a double retirement match. Tom Tennant finally scored a clean win over Misery that night, ending the feud that had raged for years, and spanned multiple companies. It also ended the careers of both men.

Part IX: The Future?

During his self imposed retirement, Misery did a lot of promotional work for the UWL. A series of these dates were autograph signings with another UWL Superstar, Wildfire. The two of them hatched a plan, that would help Misery return to the UWL, and help Wildfire become the UWL Champion.

It should also be noted that during this exile, Misery first met Anna. He was on his way through a small town in Tennessee, and while at a gas station saw a man strike the young woman he was with. Misery intervened knocking the man, who he would later find out was her father unconscious. Her name was Anna, and the two of them quickly hit if off. Soon after Anna moved in with Misery.

On the UWL front, a masked man calling himself The Future began appearing on television. He was forming a group of people to try and restore glory to the UWL. A group which included front office member, VP Michael, Wildfire, Connor Hawke and a few others.

In January of 2002, Misery was revealed as the man under the mask. The Future stable looked poised to dominate the UWL, but if Misery's past shows anything, he does not work well in groups.

Part X: 2002, An Interesting Year

Misery denounced the Future, fed up with the direction in which things were going. Wildfire took exception to this and a blood feud began. Match after match, week after week, Misery and Wildfire tore one another part. The UWL World Title was involved, in which Misery became a Six time champion, but the title was nothing compared to the brutality.

The war of Misery and Wildfire would continue on, even after the two men stopped hating one another. Unbeknownst to the rest of the UWL, a plot had been devised between the two of them, AGW Owner Speed Racer and former President of the UWL, Chris Beacom. Together they planned to oust the tyrannical new leader of the UWL, Art Murphy out of power.

Thus began the invasion of the UWL, by Anything Goes Wrestling. This shocked fans and wrestlers alike, as the history between Misery and the AGW was nothing short of utter hatred. In this time, Misery and Wildfire took the UWL World Tag Team Titles, starting a reign that would last nearly two full months, and saw them defeat challenge after challenge.

Finally the plot was revealed and Art Murphy was ousted from power. The team of Misery and Wildfire went there separate ways, and Misery would spend the rest of the year, mostly uneventful.

Part XI: Misery, Reluctant Hero?

Toward the end of 2002, Anna would make her UWL debut alongside Misery. Her story shed a different light on the man who the fans had hated, but respected none the less. Soon after her arrival, Misery began to hear the cheers of the crowds. But as is always the case, all good things……

During a seemingly routine match up with The Man Known As Chuck, things would be forever changed. After losing the match, Chuck seemed to have lost his mind, as he tied Misery into the ring ropes with barbed wire, and proceeded to give him a beating the likes of which the UWL, had never seen Misery take. A beating that ended with a crown of barbed wire embedded into the head of Misery.

This cemented Misery as the good guy in the eyes of the fans, and kicked off a war that nearly cost both men there careers. Misery would take his revenge on Chuck two weeks later, which led to Chuck crossing the line the following week. Destroying Misery in the parking lot of an arena, and slamming a car door on Anna, cracking her ribs and putting her in the hospital.

Things would culminate a week later in a match that the UWL refused to sanction. A Barbed Wire Spider Net Four Corners of Misery Death Match. A match which in the record books will go down as a loss for Misery, but can not be considered a win for either man, as they both spent the better part of two weeks recovering from it. The war between Chuck and Misery would not end that night.

A few uneventful months for Misery would pass in the UWL, but during that time The Man Known As Chuck would go on to win the World Heavyweight Title. Soon after, the feud between the two would re-ignite, leading Misery to win his Seventh and most likely final UWL World Heavyweight Title.

Part XII: Hello AGW, Goodbye UWL.

Misery's seventh UWL reign would be short lived, as he would go on to lose it to Chris Metzen at the following pay per view. In October of 2003, the UWL would once again split into two seperate divisions. Misery found himself as part of the International division, which spent most of it's time touring outside of the United States.

This time is most notable for three reasons. One being the rebuilding of bridges, and subsequent turn to friendship with Rasputin McKane, formerly known as Rage. The second being that the first cracks in the relationship between Misery and Anna would begin to show. Also notable is that Misery and McKane would become partners in a gym/wrestling school located in Chicago.

The third and most imporant reason was that it was during this time that Misery and Speed Racer, after years of hard feelings would mend there fences as well, leading to Misery signing a long term contract with Racer's Anything Goes Wrestling. A promotion that Misery has quit in disgust early in his career.

On November 30th of that year, Misery would make his AGW debut saving his half brother Tom Tennant from a vicious beatdown at the hands of Scion, younger brother Clint Tennant and Speed Racer himself, allowing Tom to win the match, and take his fiancee Rachel, also known as Moonspell out of Racer's clutches. A surreal moment to be sure as the people in attendance went absolutely insane for this most unexpected appearance, and the internet dirt sheets were flabbergasted as somehow this appearance never got leaked, and the real life animostity between Misery and Racer made it so unlikely it was never thought of.

Meanwhile back in the UWL, Misery found himself stagnant on the International Roster, and with so many years in the UWL behind him, and having accomplished pretty much everything he could accomplish, he went to the Front Office and made the big decision.

Misery was going to retire from active competition in the Unified Wrestling League. He was quickly transferred back to the Mainland roster, as his last request of the UWL was to fight his final match against his long time friend, and a man whom he had never faced in the UWL....David Myte. Myte, who is better known to some fans as Dynamite agreed to the match, and the two were set to meet at the first UWL Pay Per View of 2004.

The two would steal the show in an absolutely breathtaking, and utterly insane Falls Count Anywhere match. After thirty plus minutes of hell, Misery would come out on top of his final match in a UWL ring. As he stood victorious, saluting the fans who had stood behind him for so many years, UWL Chief Executive Officer, Chris Beacom would make an unexpected appearance. In an unprecedented move, he would grant Misery immediate entry into the UWL Hall of Fame, and thanked him for everything he had given to the UWL over the years.

Part XIII: The Downward Spiral Continues...but Anything Goes

Having the oppurtunity to reinvent himself for the first time in many, many years, Misery's first few months in AGW were a whirlwind. Both professionally, and personally.

Anna, having realized that the life of a professional wrestlers wife was not for her, had found herself another man. Not content with just breaking Misery's heart, she proceeded to stomp on it, by claiming abuse during there Divorce proceedings, thus robbing Misery of any rights he had toward his son.

With only this business left for him, he continued on, making big waves in the AGW. He and Tom Tennant would continue there war with Speed Racer's "New Blood" faction, bringing in UWL Stars Sean Tylor, Wildfire, Dynamite and Lariat Brisco, to form the new "Horde".

Mere weeks after the Anna part of his life was over, on the AGW's weekly TV show, Misery acted as if he were going to attack then 19 year old New Blood member and AGW announcer Paige Vandenberg only to kiss her instead. Flustered, and unsure of how to react, Paige stormed off the set of the show. The following week under pressure she admitted that part of her liked it. Irate, Speed Racer sent his underlings to attack her and her father, AGW Manager, James Vandenberg. Misery would arrive in time to save Paige, and would soon after take her under his wing. This will all become important later.

Misery was quickly climbing the ranks of the AGW, and soon found himself in position to challenge for there version of the World Heavyweight Title. The holder of the belt was a huge British man named Nelson. Misery would begin to show why he had been called the Master of the Mind Games, doing everything in his power to get under the skin of the big man. But in a shocking turn of events, he would find himself one upped in the mind game category and angrier than he had ever been.

One week after Misery had defeated an opponent in the ring, Nelson would appear on the AGW big screen, to taunt Misery. He was strangely enough walking across a grave yard as he did so. As his tauntings came to a close, he did the unthinkable, and crossed the one line that no man had ever dared to cross in Misery's career.

Nelson urinated upon the tombstone of Misery's First Love.

With nothing short of the utter annihalation of Nelson on his mind, the two would finally meet in a Texas Death Match for the AGW Heavyweight Title. Now Misery has been through wars, and plenty of them. But on that night Misery gave every single thing he had, and still could not down the big brit. When he had nothing left he dug down deep into that spot in his heart where all of the anger over her loss had been bottled up for years and years, and expelled it onto Nelson all at once. The poor bastard never stood a chance, and Misery had just claimed the Heavyweight Title of the league in which he swore he would never step foot again.

Part XIV: Love, Hate and Title Belts

Truth be told, when Misery first accepted Paige Vandenberg to be his trainee, his friend, and his partner...he did so out of pity. His kiss, meant as an act of humilation, not even thinking that she might possibly like it, had cost the girl everything. Her only friends at the time, her announce job, and her wrestling career. Not wanting the burden of that on his shoulders he had gone to AGW Co-Owner Violet Morris, and had the girl reinstated. From there, he took her under his wing and began to train her in some of the points of wrestling at which she did not excel.

What Misery did not expect however, was that the two would fall in love. During there training sessions, and the two of them traveling together to the AGW shows, it happened. It was not easy for them however. Not only was he thirteen years her senior, but his half brother and best friend Tom Tennant did not trust her. He would continue not to trust her, until she sacrificed herself to save Tom, when Misery was unable to do so. Meanwhile on the World Title front, Misery would go on to defend that title over the course of 91 days, falling just 11 day short of the all time record. To make matters far worse, the man he lost the title too turned out to be his younger half brother Clint Tennant, with whom needless to say he did not get along.

Also during that period, Misery's good friend Sean Tylor would turn on him, viciously assaulting him and Paige for a reason that Sean would not reveal. Misery tried everything he could to talk to Sean, but Sean would have none of it. Finally, with action being his only course...a match was made.

A match that would happen for only the second time in the history of this business, a match Misery swore would never happen again....Thunderdome. Sean and Misery went to hell...both men coming out injured, both men coming out scarred, and still nothing was solved. It would later turn out that Sean was doing what he did to protect Violet Morris, but that did not sit well with Misery.

Part XV: Stupidity at it's Finest

The rest of "The Horde" would find it in there hearts to forgive Sean Tylor, but Misery could not. Therefore, as he has always done before...he turned against them. Joining with Nelson, and sticking with only Lariat Brisco, Misery would begin a war against his half brother, and two of his best friends.

He would quickly disolve the alliances with Nelson and Brisco, leaving him where he has been so often...alone. Tom Tennant would refuse to fight him, saying that it had been done again and again, and he would have no more of it. Misery did everything he could to provoke his brother, but Tom stood fast.

So instead of Tom, Misery refocused his anger on Tylor. But soon Tylor and Violet Morris would announce that she was pregnant. This hit Misery hard, as having lost any right to see his own son had changed him, and he realized that no man should have his chance to watch his children grow up be taken from him.

Misery and Sean would soon meet, and the match would go to a thirty minute draw. What shocked most people was that Misery was not out for blood in this match as most thought he would be. He would soon confront Violet Morris, and with tears rolling down his face explain that no child should have to endure the life that he has known, and that his vendetta against Sean would be forever buried.

Part XVI: The Path To Redemption

Violet Morris was the only one who would believe Misery, but only she had been there for the breakdown twenty plus years in the making. She did everything she could with Sean, Tom, and Wildfire but none of them were having it. Misery ended up making his own personal plee to Wildfire and the two of them settled there differences.

Misery and Sean would meet again, this time in a match where Misery stayed completely with-in the boundaries of the rule book...something he did not do often. This match would end in a draw after sixty minutes. Sean was coming closer to believing that Misery had changed, but Tom Tennant still stood steadfast in his refusal to believe. It should also be noted that during this time rumblings of the return of the AGW stable "The Dark Church" began.

Misery and Sean were set to meet one final time, this time in a ninety minute Iron Man match. Amazingly, the two went the full ninety minutes, but Speed Racer ordered the match to continue, and Sean Tylor was finally able to defeat Misery for the first time in his career. After the match Misery would offer his hand to Sean, and it would be accepted. Thus another grudge was settled, and Misery was one step closer on his road to redemption.

The Dark Church rumors turned out to be true, as they made there return, and did so by attacking Violet Morris. Who Misery had sworn to protect. Into action Misery and Tylor went, and severely outnumbered there were beaten repeatedly. More men would rally to there side, but the Church would increase in numbers as well. Finally, Tom Tennant at the urging of Sean Tylor would agree to fight along side Misery, though reluctantly. This war would continue, with The Dark Church eventually combining with multiple other stables to form "The Elite". A so called super stable.

At the 2005 King of Hearts Pay Per View, Misery would have a pretty amazing night. First he would compete in the King of Hearts tournament, winning Four matches and outlasting Forty Six other men, before being pinned and becoming the runner up in his Fifth match of the night.

He would then go into his Sixth match of the night and wrestle a brutal Thirty Minute war with the AGW World Heavyweight Champion, Eric Von Doom. Misery would get the win, and gain his 2nd AGW World Heavyweight Title. He, Von Doom , Tylor and two other men would then immediately be forced into a 10 Man War Games match, which wound up going for another full hour. They lost the match, but it was assuredly a performance that had people talking.

He would continue in the war against "The Elite", and he would also continue to defend the AGW Title against all comers. He went on to break the AGW Record, and hold the title for 116 days, before finally being defeated.

After losing the title he continued to compete in the AGW, until such time as the company went on hiatus, though there is nothing exceptionally memorable that occured during that timeframe.

Part XVII: Going Home Again

After the AGW went on Hiatus, Misery and Paige took some personal time, and made a few appearances at various Independant wrestling shows across the world. During this down time he got a call from CEO Beacom of the UWL. Beacom had finally reconsidered his decision to not allow members of the UWL Hall of Fame to compete in the UWL. Misery and Beacom hammered out a contract that was to the liking of both sides, and Misery was set to return home.

A match was scheduled at the 11th Hour Pay Per View, between Misery and Sheer Ego. It was billed as a "One Night Only" return to the UWL for both men, although Beacom, Misery, Ego, Tom Tennant, and David Myte new better.

The match between Ego and Misery was a twenty minute time limit draw that was applauded as one of the best matches of the year. After the bell rang, Beacom came to the ring and made the announcement that he was lifting the Hall of Fame ban, and that both men were now back under UWL Contract. The fans in attendance went crazy for the announcement. By the end of the night, they would be boo'ing both men soundly.

David Myte was forced into a Four on One Handicap match in the C0-Main Event of the show, and was told by Beacom that if he could find a single man willing to team with him, let alone three, that the sides could be evened. Myte then went on to announce that he had found partners, and that those men were Misery and Sheer Ego. Tom Tennant would emerge from the crowd as the fourth member of the alliance, and the four of them would lay waste to the opponents and declare that Legend had been reborn.

Part XIX: The Stable Wars

The rebirth of Legend sparked a massive gang war in the UWL. Nearly half of the roster ended up in some sort of stable over the following months. Sneak attacks, brawls, and matches between members of the stables were a weekly occurence on Friday Night Frenzy.

Even with all the Turbulence rocking the UWL, Misery's streak of luck since his return continued. First in January, he and Tom Tennant finally achieved a long time goal and became UWL World Tag Team Champions. Then just a few weeks later, he was granted a shot at the UWL World Heavyweight Title. The champion Davey Dee fought valiantly, and earned the respect of The Hardcore Icon, but it would not be enough, as Misery took the win, and became UWL World Heavyweight Champion for a record Eighth Time. Sadly, the reign would be short lived as a week later a member of one of the other stables would defeat him for the Title.

CEO Beacom announced a Stable Wars concept for the first Pay Per View of 2006, Road To Glory which would prove which of these gangs was the dominant one, and would hopefully end the gang warfare. There was also a prize allowing each member of the winning stable a match of his choosing, any time, any where.

Legend drew a spot in the first match of the night, competing in a War Games contest against Speed Racer led stable. The Legion. It would take nearly a half hour, but Legend would prevail against The Legion, and advance themselves in the Stable War. They would later in the night meet the stable known as Legacy in yet another War Games match that would go nearly one full hour. Legend emerged victorious, won the Stable Wars, and took home the "Any Match" prize.

Although he had lost his World Title, Misery and Tennant were tearing up the tag ranks and defeating all teams that crossed them. But, as is the theme in Misery's life, all good things had to come to an end. At the end of April an unheralded team stepped up and defeated the Brothers in Pain for the UWL Tag Titles.

Part XX: The Ultimate Betrayal

A few weeks passed and the Misery/Tennant team were scheduled to have a rematch for the Tag Titles on another edition of Frenzy. Misery spent almost the whole show looking for Tennant who never showed up to the arena. Finally, and at the last minute, Misery was forced to find a replacement partner. He chose Sean Tylor, realizing that Sean was one of the few men he knew he could trust.

The two of them were very close to taking home the Tag Gold, when Tennant finally showed up at the arena. He came out of the crowd and slid into the ring, where he immediately assaulted Misery with a barbed wire baseball bat. As quickly as he showed up, he left, leaving Misery and the world wondering what was going on.

A week later Misery came to the ring to confront Tennant about the whole situation. Misery figured that the whole thing was about Tennant finally paying him back for the multiple backstabbings that had occured over the years. While that would turn out to be true, it would actually become much, much more.

Tennant would arrive quickly to the ring, and let forth a hate filled diatribe about all of the wrong doings that Misery had perpetrated over the years. This would bring Paige Vandenberg to the ring to try and stop Misery from destroying Tennant. At that point Tennant crossed the line.

He rolled a video set to the tune of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" that showed all of the times Misery had screwed over Tennant. It also showed footage of the countless women in Misery's life that had come and gone. Finally it showed a picture and reavealed the name of the infamous "Lost Love." Misery had protected the name and image of Kelly Lynn Asher for almost ten years, but Tennant would undue everything that Misery had worked for in a matter of moments.

The video succeeded two fold. One, pissing Misery off to an extent the world had never seen at that point, and Two, apparently causing Paige Vandenberg to realize what kind of man she was dealing with. Paige said nothing but "I'm Sorry" and walked out of the ring and out of Misery's life that night.

Shaking with rage, Misery was about to attack his half brother when the final bombshell was dropped. A secret that Tom, and Misery's adopted parents had been hiding from him since the day Kelly died. A secret that Tom spilled on live Television to try and destroy Misery permanently. The fact that Kelly was pregnant with Misery's son when she got on the airplane that killed her.

Tom's plan worked as Misery's eye glazed over and he began to cry in the center of the ring for the world to see. He walked out of the UWL that night and would not return for quite some time.

Part XXI: The Path Of Rage

Misery would not be seen or heard from for two months, despite multiple attempts by CEO Beacom, Sean Tylor, and David Myte to find him. The man himself has never spoken of where he was, what he was doing, and what his state of mind was during this time. It will apparently remain a mystery.

But eventually after the despair subsided, the anger returned. At the end of July, after a tag team match involving Tom Tennant, Misery made his return to UWL television. Sporting a long beard, and his hair longer than ever, he ran down the ramp after his brother, who luckily for himself escaped into the crowd.

The next week Misery showed up at Frenzy again, still having not spoken to anyone. He destroyed Gerald Fitzsimmons, David Myte, Johann Skold, Davey Dee, and Wildfire. The weeks following that he went on a tear, beating every man he came across. Finally Tom Tennant showed his face, but only on the Unitron, claiming that he was medically incapable of wrestling due to a wrist injury.

This only angered Misery further heading into the Lord of the Ring Tournament, at the Mid-Summer Nightmare PPV. That night, fueled by his rage, Misery tore apart Davey Dee, Owen Jude, and The Famine enroute to becoming the 2006 Lord of the Ring.

Misery would continue to wrestle against all comers while biding his time for the Strangeland Pay Per View. That would be the night that he would be allowed to cash in the Heavyweight Title shot he won by winning the Lord of the Ring. It would also be the night where he would get another shot at the annual Bloody Bonds event. An event in which he had nothing but bad luck every time he participated.

The night would finally come, and Misery would find his randomly drawn partner to be veteran wrestler, War. The two of them would eliminate Chris Metzen and Kyle Label in the tag match and advance to the Battle Royal, the winner of which would receive a UWL World Title shot at the 11th Hour PPV.

This was also a test for Misery, as the one thing he had never done in his career was to win a battle royal. He survived multiple near eliminations early in the match, and came on strong at the end, eliminating three men, and winning the Bloody Bonds tournament! He now had insurance should he come up short in his match with David Myte.

He would not however need that insurance, as it took him a mere five minutes to dispatch of his long time comrade and enemy and become UWL World Heavyweight Champion for the Ninth Time. Unfortunately for him, his victory would be short lived as Tom Tennant chose that moment to make his return to the UWL, ruining Misery's greatest night.

Part XXII: The Road To The End

Tennant returned to action the following week on Frenzy. After his return match, an irate Misery made his way to the ring to begin the payback which Tennant was deserving. But he was stopped by CEO Beacom. It seemed in the process of the renegotiating of Tennant's contract he had two clauses inserted. One that should Misery touch him in a non-match environment, he had the right to sue the company for an unsafe work environment. Two would be that Tennant would only wrestle Misery on Pay Per View.

Due to Misery's win at Bloody Bonds, he was scheduled to get the Title Shot at the 11th Hour, but since he was already champion, Beacom allowed him to name his own opponent, he of course chose Tom Tennant.

The following week Tennant tried to attack Misery, and this time he was stopped by Beacom. Beacom one upped Tennant by threatening to sue him for breach of contract should he touch Misery in any way, shape, or form before the 11th Hour. A few weeks passed with nothing of note happening, other than Tennant constantly bad mouthing Misery. Misery had stopped granting interviews at this point to mentally prepare himself for what he knew was coming.

The first week of December, Tennant confronted Misery in the ring trying to pull out a masterstroke to give himself an advantage in the upcoming match. He planned to use his "Any Match, Any Time, Any Where" contract from the Stable Wars to choose the type of match he wanted. He was once again cut off by CEO Beacom, who informed him that his Stable Wars prize expired with his contract.

Beacom then made the decision to allow Misery to choose the type of match that would occur at the 11th Hour. Misery had only two words: Thunder Dome. Tennant was visibly shaken by the suggestion, and Beacom was upset.

The next week on Frenzy, Beacom called Misery into his office and flat out refused to allow Thunderdome, due to the brutality of the match possibly hurting the UWL's relationship with their sponsors. At that point a very angry Misery used his "Any Match, Any Time, Any Where" contract and made the Thunderdome match for the 11th Hour. This was a decision that Beacom could not contractually overturn, so that match was set.

Part XXIII: Two Men Enter, One Man Leaves

The 11th Hour was finally upon both men. The time had come for Thunderdome. But before the match could even begin, something happened that would alter the course of Misery's life. Moments before he headed into the cage, he was confronted backstage by Paige Vandenberg. She revealed that the reason she had run away all those months ago was because she scared. The video Tom Tennant had shown had effected her, not because of what she thought would happen to her, but because on the same day she saw it, she found out she was pregnant with Misery's child.

With that on his mind Misery headed to the cage, and set out to finish the decade long war. In a match that has been described by one writer as "The Most Disturbing Thing I Have Ever Seen On A Wrestling Show", Misery and Tennant maimed one another. Blood was shed, bones were broken, and ligaments were torn. At the end of the most hellish half hour in wrestling history, Misery emerged victorious.

Part XXIV: Recovery, Birth, And A Return

Misery spent the next month and a half recovering from the war. He had hundreds of lacerations, burns, broken fingers, and had once again severely damaged his already damaged knee. During this time he and Paige reconciled and she gave birth to his son. The two of them married soon afterwards.

Misery now the longest reigning World Champion in the history of the UWL, as well as the AGW has just made his return to the UWL Ring.
