Background: Aryana was born into a tribe of wandering desert nomads. As she was being born, a kank (the tribe's herding animal of choice)meandered over and laid by Aryana's mother. It would not leave, no matter how hard the midwives tried to push it away.
The birth had complications, and Aryana's mother died during it. The kank insisted on staying with the child. The tribe's cheiftain took this as a portent. "This girl shall be raised to be the 'Kosi'Ma' (or "Animal Teacher")," he proclaimed. It was a truly a good job to have in the tribe, and ranked just below cheitan in signifigance.
&&&&&Aryana was raised by the chieftain himself, and he let her spend time each day with her animals. As she grew, she became more and more detatched from her tribe-mates, opting instead to spend more time with the beasts of the desert. She had a knack for soothing even the most savage beast, and was regarded as a great asset when she saved the clan from a pack of Tembos.
&&&&&Then, one day, her life changed drastically. A tribe of elven raiders spotted her walking with an erdlu. Seeing the prime condition in which the erdlu was in, they ran towards her in hopes of an easy steal. Aryana, however, wasn't just going to have one of her best friends stolen from her. She fought off the raiders with fury she didn't even know she had. When he battle ended, she stood atop two of the dead elves, and watched another run off into the desert. The only injury she sustained was a deep gash across her right hand.
&&&&&Weeks later, the wound had healed. But their was something odd about how the gash had closed, an almost imperceptable change in the way things felt. She talked to the chief one night when it hurt particularly badly. "There's something wrong with my hand," she moaned. "Something's not right, I can feel it," she said. He told her to sleep on it, and see how she felt in the morning. That night, the tribe was woken from their slumber by the sound of rain. As they rejoiced, Aryana realized the pain was gone. She didn't think about her hand for a year, at which point the pain started, and the rains came.
&&&&&"This is amazing!" "We were wrong, you were meant to be a Rain Cleric!" exclaimed the cheif as he got drenched by the pouring rain. "Don't you see! Two rains in one year is impossible! You must be calling it!" Days later, Aryana was dropped off in Tyr. She said good-bye to her surrogate father and her animals, and sought the Temple of Rain hidden away on the west side of the city, where she trained very hard for the next four years.
&&&&&One day, a female member of her tribe named Xhaska stumbled into the temple. She was badly bruised and bloodied. Aryana questioned the woman as to how she got this way, and she got an answer she wished she'd never recieved. Her tribe was coming back to Tyr to pay a surprise visit, when a band of elves attacked and killed all but Xhaska. On that day, Aryana left the temple, swearing to get revenge on the elves for what they did. If she can't find the ones who did the crime, she'll make them all pay.
