Avenger Druid
Druid Kit
Ability Requirements: Str 9, Wis 11, Chr 13
Prime Requisites: Wisdom, Strength
Races Allowed: Human, Half-elf, Thri-kreen
Role: It is said that there is nothing more sad then an Avenger Druid. An Avenger Druid is a druid that is caught up in an endless cycle of rage. The Spirit of the land that the druid worships has been harmed and almost destroyed. Some examples could be a mountain was mined, a forest that was torn down or an oasis was over used. Regardless of what has been done it will take years before the land can be healed, if it can be healed at all. The Avenger Druid however will take even more time to heal, for in his eyes there is only one person to blame for what happened: himself. The druid believes that there was something he could have done to prevent the destruction from happening. If that is actually true or not is up to the player -- regardless, the druid is caught in a endless cycle of blame for being too weak to stop what happen which sends him further into rage, making it even harder to undo the mental trauma.
Avenger Druids want only one thing: revenge on the person or persons that harmed the land he was protecting. Maybe he thinks that killing them will change what happened or maybe he just thinks it will make him feel better. The spirit of the land, however, just wants to heal its wounds and so it gives most of its dwindling powers in hope that the druid will complete his quest to heal himself so that the druid can then heal the land. Since the power of the spirit is so weak the druid powers that normal druids get don’t come so easy to Avenger Druids, but they make up for it by training themselves in weapons and war and at first glance may even be confused for a fighter. But rage will only get them so far and so the Avenger Druids faces an up-hill battle to gain their ultimate goal of revenge.
Weapon Proficiencies: Any.
Non-weapon Proficiencies: Bonus: Endurance Recommended: Healing, Somatic Concealment, Weapon Improvisation, Armor Optimization.
Armor/Equipment: Standard. All Avenger Druids keep with them a piece of the land that they failed to protect. An example would be a rock or a piece of brunt wood.
Special Benefits:
Time of Wandering-The Avenger Druid is never quite happy with all the things he has done to gain revenge for the destruction of his protected land. Because of this, the druid never really settles down until around 14th level.
Specialization-At 1st level the avenger Druid can specialize in a weapon. This specialization can not go on to mastery but they can specialize in another weapon at 8th and 16th level.
Special Hindrances:
Harder to Speak with Plants & Animals-Because the Avenger Druid spends more time with swords than normal druid does they don’t learn to speak with animals until 4th level and plants until 6th level. The Avenger Druid still learns to speak with all plants and animals at the same levels as normal druids.
Weaker Connection with Spirit-Since the spirit of the land is weakened, the connection with the druid is weaker and it takes longer to build up the bond with the land that allows the druid to survive without food and water, and so this ability is not gained until 9th level.

NPC Ex.
Chisic 8th level Thri-kreen Avenger Druid: All Chisic remembers of his childhood was that he was always caring for a small desert pool unknown to merchants and traders, and the spirit there would speak to him when got lonely. So when he grew up he never questioned his position as a druid over his small pool, but just like any other person, he grew interested in the world outside the little pond and so he began to travel from the pool and he was soon doing this more and more. One day, Chisic came back after being gone for a week and found that the pool was being populated by a small community of half-elven ex-slaves.
At first Chisic was ready to move the half-elves out, by force if needed, but after he watched the half-elves for a while he saw that they were of no threat, so he decided that they could stay. Chisic was surprised that he was in no rush to let his presence be known to the half-elves. He thought that he would have wanted to try to make new friends but he was so different form them that he thought it might be a bad idea. As time passed Chisic grew to think of the half-elves as part of the pool and was soon looking after half-elves as well as the pool itself. Chisic would still talk to the spirit when he got lonely by sneaking into the small village at night. This way of life went on for about a year until a group of half-elves left to find some food and Chisic left with them to secretly watch over them. When they returned they found the village destroyed and the pool under the control of a merchant house leader who used an army of skeletons to do his work. Chisic was crushed, he didn’t know what to do, the half-elves that were away from the village at the time of the attack ran into the desert and Chisic never saw them again. Chisic, not knowing what to do next, ran off into the desert. There he decided that he needed to increase his power and find the merchant leader and kill him. Chisic sealed this vow with blood by cutting off his lower left arm and to this day he still thinks that the pain of losing his village pool was greater than that of losing his arm. Since then Chisic has gained in power and has learn who it was that ordered the destruction of the pool but he still thinks that he is not powerful enough to kill the merchant leader yet.
Chisic is very old for a Thri-kreen (18 years old) but time has only increased his skills. Chisic stands 7’4’’ and is about 12’ feet long he has two belts that run across is chest to hold his chatkaha’s. Chisic also carries a gythka in his upper hands and an Impaler in his lower hand (he cut off his other lower hand). Chisic wears nothing but a harness around his thorax, which he uses to carry his supplies and other things.
