Role: In Dark Sun there are some real weird people. People that do weird things to their body, people that worship weird things, and people that have sick habits. But none compare to the twisted mind of a Black Assassin. They are the people that nobles turn to when normal assassins don’t have the guts, stomach, or the balls to do certain jobs. Black Assassins don’t care who or what they have to kill just as they get to decide how to kill the target. As children, Black Assassins were the kids that would beat up on all the other kids that were smaller than they were and when they were the smallest they would find small animals or bugs on which they could inflict pain on.
Black Assassins are harmless until they kill there first victim. Most of the time they never intend on killing the person, they just want to hurt hum. But they punch too many times or grab something too sharp and the beating turns to murder. It’s at this moment when they find out that killing is ten times as fun as harming, this is when the Black Assassin become dangerous. After their first kill they can’t stop and learn how to kill more effectively and learn other skills that help them do it. Most Black Assassins leave where ever their from because too many people know who their are and know about their hobby. They leave to sharpen their skill.
Black Assassin are highly sought after for their skills. They are known as the best of the best among Merchant Kings and High Templars. They get the job done and never make any mistakes. They are hired when someone want to make a point, like when Carla hired a Black Assassin to keep a gladiator form working for someone else. The Black Assassin found the woman of which the gladiator loved and kidnapped her. At the gladiator's next fight, a head was thrown to him after he had won. He picked it up to find out that it was his loves head, with her tongue cut off and her eyes sewn shut. In her mouth was a note that explained she was very much alive when all that happened to her and that he would be next if he didn’t shape up. Since then Carla has never had a problem with that gladiator.

Armor/Equipment: Any armor that a Thief can wear. Plus all Black Assassins have one weapon which is their killing weapon, see below.

Weapon Of Choice-This is also known as their killing weapon. Their killing weapon is the most prized weapon, with it they leave no one alive. Not every Black Assassin has one but most of them do. Some find other things that they use to kill people, like poisons but even then some choose special weapons to spread the poison. With their killing weapon the Black Assassin gets plus +2 to hit and +1 to dmg.
Savage Potion-At 5th level the Black Assassin has the option to put a proficiency slot in to Savage Potion Making. Savage Potions are what give the Black Assassin the ability to cut down tons of guards taking tons of damamge, break down doors and even walls to get to their intended victim. Savage Potions were discovered years ago by a Black Assassin known only by the name Nightmare of Death. He found that by mixing certain things he could make a potion that would close up his mind so that the only thing that he could focus on would be killing. His potion has become one of the most guarded secrets on all of Athas. The PC can only learn this proficiency form another Black Assassin who has already mastered it. Once the proficiency is gained the Black Assassin may make his own Savage Potions. The process takes about five days and costs about a golds worth in materials. Once this is down the Black Assassin can drink the potion before it spoils (by about a week after it was made). When the Black Assassin drinks the potion they focus on the intended victim and soon enter a Zombie- like mode when all they do is hunt down the victim. Note that this potion does not locate the victim -- they must already know where he is. After an hour the potion takes affect, at that the PC makes a Savage Potion Creation check, Int -3, if they make it the potion works normally, but if they fail the PC must make a save vs. poison or die on the spot (this potion is not without it’s risks), if the Black Assassin also has the Herbalism proficiency they can get a +3 to their Savage Potion check. If all the checks are made and the position works the Black Assassin gets the following benefits: he is immune to sleep and charm spells. He gain +2 hit points per level, max. of ten levels. He gains a -2 bonus to his AC and his MAC. Finally no matter how much damage he takes he will not die until the potion wears off, which is when he kills his intended victim or 5 hours transpire (which ever comes first). During this time the DM should not tell the PC how much damage he has taken -- only at the end of the 5 hours should the DM inform him if he is still alive.
Poison Making-At 6th level the Black Assassin can make poisons like a bard. Ever two levels after 6th he can roll for another poison to add to his list.
Death Blow-At 10th level the Black Assassin has gained the ability to kill with a single hit. If he can make a successful Backstab the victim must roll vs. death or die. If the victim succeed the attack hits as a normal Backstab
Special Hindrances:
Preferred Prey-The Black Assassin must choose a type of person that they love to kill over others. This prey may be a priest of certain type or a noble or slave. If at any time the PC does not try to kill his preferred prey when he has the chance to (DM discretion) the Black Assassin becomes very upset that he missed a chance to kill that he gets a -2 to hit and +2 to his AC for the next two days.
Kill Chart-The Black Assassin must kill a certain number of people to maintain that killer edge if they do not they run the risk of losing that edge forever. Use the chart below to see how many people the Black Assassin must kill. For every day that the Black assassin goes over the time limit he gets a -1 to hit and a +1 to his AC per day that he does kill the right number of people. this can go on for up to ten days after which he losses all of his special benefits and skills and becomes a fighter two levels lower. He can never become a Black Assassin again.

The Rad Talon 7th level Mul Black Assassin: Born in the slave pits of Tyr, he was raised for hard labor under the whip of his masters. This did nothing but fuel his hatred for his fellow Mul to the point were he would just walk up to fellow slaves and start to beat them down. He became so much of a problem that he had to be separated from the rest of the slaves. This worked for awhile until he became so filled with rage that he rushed the guards that were over-seeing him. His attack soon started a revolt among the other slaves that has since gone down as one of the worst slave revolts in Tyr. He did manage to escape during the revolt but instead of running from his former, he went after him. After sneaking into the slave masters house, he killed him in his sleep with a blood-covered gaff hook as his only weapon.
Since then this Mul has taken the name The Red Talon and has been selling his skills to the highest bidder. Up until present times the highest bidder was a high templar, but it has changed over to the hands of a merchant house leader named Fralic. Fralic has already used him to kill off some of his rivals and has even bigger plans for him the future.
The Red Talon has recently learned how to make savage potions from another Black Assassin named Lowgo but he doesn’t like to use then because he is not sure of his (Int of 11). His weapon of choice is his gaff hook which has long since been stained with the blood of his victims. His preferred prey are slavers and the guards, and it’s not because of what they do to other slaves, it’s because of what they did to him years ago.
The Red Talon stands at a huge 6’10’’ and weighs about 420 lbs. of pure ass-kicking. He wears a black leather suit of armor with a cloth mask and cape. The cape is pure black and the mask is also pure black with two red scars that run across the face.
