The event was held in a giant hangar on a Tustin military base - which is very X-Filesish in itself because we see military bases in virtually every myth ep, right? There were MIBish people standing at the entrance, trying to look intimidating - but I imagine they were quite giddy with the event themselves. There are pictures on the Fox website that will explain better what it actually looked like IN the Expo, but I'll give a basic rundown.
From left to right: Shari, Elke, myself, and Stormie.
They had a wide array of merchandise, some of which I haven't seen anywhere else, but that's just me. To me the best stuff were the wacky alien t-shirts and the cute alien stuffed animals. Call me the Only Girl in PVPHS Who Thinks Aliens Are Cute. Oh, they DO have the Official 4th Season Guide on sale in advance at the Expo. Due to the excitement, I didn't notice I was hungry until the end despite the fact that the food did smell quite enticing; but I eventually had a sundae, which was pretty good. They don't have much there, and the prices are Disneyland-high, but not TOO high. The preview of the movie was a must-see, and definitely worth it; the interactive trivia game was TOO easy for any real Phile. Of course, the props from the show were a treat, and we got our picture taken in Mulder's office (see above).

They also showed clips from the show on screens everywhere, including the main one on the stage, where Steven Williams, Mitch Pileggi, Bill Davis, St. Vince, Goatboy, Spotsy, and Dean Haglund did their thing. I found all of them to be quite friendly and amusing. I missed Steven Williams, but DH and Mitch were hilarious. The cute part was Mitch's niece got up and asked him a question too ("Am I your favorite niece?")! Bill Davis was humorous as well, and he definitely looked and acted like the veteran that he is. I found the three writers very charismatic, and it was wonderful to be able to get a glimpse at how and why the great episodes were made. As the speakers were talking, a projecter projected slides of scenes from XF on the screen behind them - which was really cool too, because it brought back fond memories.

This is Shari (right) and I having our picture taken by one of the ppl with the digital cameras. Besides Shari, I also met up with Amy (the Pusher Nut), Elke, and Stormie for the Expo; and we ran into fellow Shipper Jenna there too. We had lots of fun! |
The highlight at the Expo for me was being immersed in the land of XF *completely* (they had "X" shaped lights on the floor!), and meeting people who are just as crazy as I am, if not crazier. :)
*More EXPO stuff: Visit the EXPO page on the Official Site and check out pictures taken from the Los Angeles Expo. Also check out this transcript from the Writer's Panel, featuring Vince Gillian, Frank Spotnitz, and John Shiban. (Yes! I'm in it!)
