Azusena
Azusena is a sentient trident that was created by the defenders of Basaam. It failed at
its major purpose, the defence of the city, when the Lamia arrived and charmed the
populace into submission. The trident has a shaft of obsidian with barbed, electrum tips.
At the intersection of the three prongs, there is an embedded 1000gp ruby. Azusena has the
following enchantments: First, it is completely resistant to heat and cold. Secondly, once
per day, it gives the wielder the ability to jump. Third, once per night, it can be used
to Light the way. Fourth, it can grant the wielder Stoneskin, as if cast by a 10th level
mage. Fifith, the ruby can be used as a Magical Jar. Sixth, it protects the wielder from
any being of Chaotic Evil alignment. Seventh, Azusena can communicate by telepathy.
Finally, if a being of Chaotic Evil alignment tries to pick up Azusena, they lose a point
of Strength (50% exceptional) permanently and are compelled to put it down. These points
are added to Azusena's intelligence. Currently, it is at 16. Azusena is of Chaotic Good
alignment. Azusena was last seen in the area of western Binsada.

Bard's Sickle
Contrary to the name this is not the sickle of a bard, but of the Rjurik half-elf Bard Olaffson (E F/W 12/12; Re, minor 10; CE). He created this sickle out of oak and maple wood, & placed a 5000gp black sapphire in the center of the stock. It has the following enchantments: First, it is resistant to heat. Secondly, it has the power to Animate Dead. Thirdly, the stock can be used as a Wand of Fireballs. The sickle can also be used normally. Finally, the gem is the material component for a Magic Jar spell. However, when Bard used this function for the first time, he became trapped when his body was destroyed by a fhomorien. He has since gone insane, and afflicts anyone who wields the sickle with the same insanity. He then tries to occupy their body. So far, he has been unsuccessful. The sickle was last seen in the moors of Dhoesone.

Battle Axe of Polymorphing
This item is a battle axe of good quality (+1) with a few
interesting quirks. First, the grip is made with the backbones of a savannah lion, with a
slate shaft, & a gold blade which has an etching of a house in it. Second, it never
gets cold to the touch, even in the worst blizzards. Third, the blade glows with enough
light to light up any room. Fourth, on a natural 20, whomever the
axe strikes is polymorphed into a small rodent. However, 5% of the time, the ability
malfunctions, causing the person struck to become an ogre, giant, or something worse.
Once, it even caused a half-elf to be changed into a young dragon. Finally, as time goes
by, the wielder begins to suffer from memory loss. Currently, the axe is in the ownership
of Quarra Darochinn (E F/T 1/1; An, Tainted 2), who has yet to suffer from the curse.

Borg's Quarterstaff of Sleep
This magical staff was created by the Rjurik wizard Borg
Anderson (MRj; W12; Re, minor 20; CN), so as to avoid as many fights as possible. The
staff is made of cherry wood with an etching of a flower in it. The staff is enchanted to
cast sleep on whomever it touches. The one drawback is everytime you use it, you must make
a Charisma check, or lose a point of Charisma permanently. Never having been a handsome
man, Borg is now one of the ugliest beings on Cerilia. It is said he could even make
goblins run away in terror! Currently, Borg is living in the province of Bjorlangen,
trying to live out his days in seclusion.

Bow of Newyth
Nearly 900 years ago, this weapon was created by the elves of
the Coullabhie as a mode of prevention against the Vampire. The long bow, which is made of
platinum, has a bonus of +2 using normal arrows. However, if the cord is drawn back, a
bone arrow with a barbed, mithril tip appears. These arrows are Vampire Slayers, arrows
that seek out the heart of the vampire and impales him. The item is charged, however and
can only be used fifteen more times before it loses its enchantment. This long bow is the
reason the elves do not fear the Vampire.

Bow of Thunder
This short bow was created as the High Lady's companion to
Daegendal's Bow. This bow is made of pine wood, and is strung with a cotton string. This
bow has a bonus of +1, but when the string is drawn back, an arrow of copper with an
electrum tip appears. When these arrows strike a target, it becomes the focal point of a
10 HD Lightning Bolt. This item is charged and can be used 86 more times. It can be
recharged by having Lightning Bolt cast by a 10th level mage into the bow. It is currently
in the hands of Quarra bint Corina (FE; Pr/T 5/5, Leira; Ba, minor 11; NG) who is
traveling with her brother in the Imperial City.

Crossbow of the Darkblades
There are five of these light crossbows in existance. They
were created by Adaliz bint Badr (FKh; W5; Bs, major 31; NG), second-in-command of the
Darkblades, a group of outlaws lining in the Basilisk's domain. They were created to help
against the Zhange Giants. The crossbows have stocks of cedar wood and bows of pine.
When used with normal bolts, the crossbows have a bonus of +1. However, if the string is
drawn back without the bolt, a bolt of adamantite with a copper tip appears. These bolts
are Hill Giant Slayers. When they strike a Hill Giant, he must save vs. death, or die.
Each of these crossbows has never been used for that purpose and have 99 charges each.
Adaliz's leader, Kalilah Sun-Eyes is said to be most impressed and thankful to her.

Daegendal's Long Bow
This weapon was the personal bow of High Lord Daegendal of
Rhuannach, before his death in 2010 MA. The bow is made of cedar wood, and is strung with
a cotton string. It has a bonus of +1 when using normal arrows. However, it also has the
power that when the string is pulled back, a bone arrow with a silver tip appears. When
these arrows strike a target, they become the center for a 10 HD Fireball. This item is
charged, and can only be used 27 more times. It can be recharged by having a 10th level
mage cast Fireball into the bow. Currently the bow is in the hands of Quevven ibn Corina

Hammer of Oervel
This device is in the hands of Oervel Devlyn (MA; F1; Ma,
tainted 1; LN), who had it made because he had the extremely bad luck of always getting
mugged by the thief's guilds of Mhowe. It was created by an acquaintance, Meganno the
Socerer, one of the Three Brother Mages. He wanted something to defend himself, but got
something much more. The hammer has a shale grip, a shaft of walnut wood, and a head of
sandstone, with jagged adamantite points (1d2+1/1d2). Additionally, the hammer has the
power to polymorph anyone it strikes into a small harmless animal, such as a pig or cat.
However, the hammer is also semi-sentient and can communicate by telepathy. Meganno made
one minor error when creating the hammer, however. Due to this error, everytime the hammer
is used, the wielder must succeed a wisdom check, or lose a point of wisdom. Oervel, a
competant construction worker is now saving up to get out of the Chimaeron, & create a
better life.

Hand Axe of Wounding
There are two of these fierce weapons in Cerilia. They were a
joint venture by Pyotr Selenie (MA, Pr6, Belinik; Az, minor 12; NE), Head of the temple of
Vos of Mieres and Markov Robotov (MV; Pr11, Belinik; Az, major 27; CE), Head of the One
True Church of Vosgaard. They are currently wielded by both these me and could be deadly
in combat. The grips and shafts are made from the bones of wictims of torture, covered
with a wool wrap, made form black sheep. The blades of these two-headed axes are made of
granite, with a carving of a human in them. They have the following enchantments.
Depending on which side strikes the target, they either will Cause Light Wounds or Cause
Serious Wounds. Both blades also cast Poison into the wound. Target gets a save vs. PPDM.
If failed, victim is incapacitated and will die in one turn, without help.

Herald's Crossbow
This heavy crossbow was created at the behest of one of the
leaders of the Imperial Heralds, Limen Pirden over two hundred years ago. The crossbow
has a stock of cherry wood and a bow of electrum. When used with normal bolts, the
crossbow has a bonus of +1. However, if the crossbow is cocked without a bolt, a bolt of
platinum with a gold tip appears. These bolts have the power, when they strike a target,
to polymorph them into a small, harmless animal, such as a garter snake. The item
currently has 23 charges, and can be recharged by having a wizard cast Polymorph Other
into the crossbow. This item is currently in the ownership of the leader of the Imperial

Kirdinceleb
In all of Cerilia's history, the most rknown craftsmen is undeniably
the elf known as Ghoigwnnwd, the only one to ever master the forging and
working of the rare metal known as tighmaevril. His works are both
very powerful and very fortunately, rare. As most historians know
less than a score of the priceless weapons were forged.
One of least reknown of these weapons is a dagger made in the middle
of Ghoigwnnwd's career. It was crafted solely for Ghoigwnnwd to keep
with him as a reminder of all the work he had put into the other blades
he had made. He also kept it for another two obvious protection values.
The dagger was kept as his side, never apparantly used during his life,
it was simply there for his pleasure.
The next sighting of this weapon was in the hands of a elven bard named
Aranna, or in it's translation, great gift. He simply found it an
odd trinket till he discovered it's hidden power. He nicknamed it
Kirdinceleb, or Silver Silience Cutter, when he found the purpose of one
of it's enchantments. When he sung his bard songs to sway the tide
of a battle between Taurhievel and Thurazor, a goblii cleric tried to silence
the bard with magic and the dagger flared a brilliant blue as it reflected
the efforts back onto the goblin caster. Though he never discovered
it's second power before he died in an attack upon the goblins of Markazor.
It last owner was a daemon priest from the shadow world who crossed
the barrier and made a home on Cerilia in the westmost province of Markazor.
The found the dagger after one of his undead rose up from a battlefield
with it still lodged in a rib. This was the owner who discovered
it's second power. The daemon when impaling an blooded elven thief,
who had been cocky and after the treasures that lie in the daemon's hold,
in the heart with the weapon discovered it was tighmaevril but also discovered
that when it was used to kill a rogue, it would grant the wielder the ability
to transport himself and a few others to previously seen location.
This power was extensively tested which resulted in the death of many of
the daemon's underlings. This ownership changed not long ago when
the dagger was drawn into the shadow world when the daemon's forces were
recalled to "meet their maker".
This next part is not commonly known to scholors as none have been "stupid"
enough to venture into the shadow world for a simple inquiry.
Kirdinceleb's second last owner was a rogue assassin of the daemon's
forces, Jerusha's missing father. He hungered to leave and rejoin
the living beings of Cerilia to leave the legacies of the songs he wrote,
but was commanded to obey the daemon. In a primevil fued between
two forces, the daemon was killed and the assassin stole the dagger and
escaped through a gate to top of a hill in Talinie, Chalktop Hill. There
he senced his daughter's presence and called her to him. That eve
he instilled his power into her and unbeknownst to her placed the dagger
in her possession as his gift to keep her safe. But he knew that
should he stay in the world he longed to visit so much, he left his daughter
and returned to the shadow world and that was the last time he ever made
his presence known.
Now, in game terms....
Kirdinceleb is a tighmaevril dagger +1/+3 vs. rogues
It acts as a ring of spell turning against any sort of hold, slow or
silence spell and within a week after killing a thief, the wielder may
teleport without error to any location he/she has already been with a number
of people equal or less than the wielder's current level. The final undiscovered
power of the dagger is that it can be used to cast Alter Self (as Wiz2
spell) 2/day.

Life's Blood
This heavy-bladed dagger is of incredibly ancient dwarven
forging and so the story of its making and subsequent use is forever lost. As the weapon
was originally made for a dwarf, it is a small weapon with an overall length of just under
seven inches (which suits Throat just fine as it means he can easily conceal it). The
dagger appears to be all one piece, although the otherwise unadorned hilt is carved with a
number of angular runic symbols that almost a millennium of use has not dulled. These
runes identify the creator (and his clan) of the weapon and when it was forged. Even
modern day dwarves will find it hard to translate these writings as the dwarven written
language has changed over the last thousand years.
Throat found this weapon when the Blood Hawks discovered an abandoned, dwarven built
complex beneath the warehouse in Proudglaive out of which the Blood Hawks initially
operated. The final adventure in the Blood Hawk Trilogy - Blood And Fire, provides
exhaustive detail about the dwarven complex. Suffice it to say that the dagger had lain
undisturbed in a sealed armoury for almost 200 hundred years. After finding the dagger and
learning of its magical nature, Throat quickly adopted it as own and, in time, came to
learn some of the dagger's other abilities (described below). He was mightily impressed
with his new possession and gave it the rather grandiose name of "Life's Blood".
Life's Blood functions as a +1 dagger in all respects but that is not the limit of its
power. Its most potent ability slows down the blood clotting process around any wounds
inflicted with the dagger. The consequent increase in blood loss results in the wounded
being taking an extra point of damage in the round after the wound is initially caused.
Obviously, this property of Life's Blood only works on beings that have blood (the exact
qualities of the blood doesn't matter - it works just as well as on humans as it does on
elves, dwarves, etc). This extra ight. However, magical quarrels or unusual situations may
change this number. Seeker's other extra enchantment simply allows the weapon's owner to
understand the orog tongue whenever the weapon is held. Note this power only grants
understanding of spoken orog - the ability to speak or write orog is not gained.
The Rockhammer clan in Baruk-Azhik would be forever indebted to anyone who returned this
weapon to them. At the very least, the Rockhammers would throw a lavish celebration and
feast in honour of the person who brought Kranka home. They would also name that person
Moradin's Servant (an ancient title that binds all dwarves to offer reasonable aid if it
is asked of them).

Mace of Aldrud
This mace was created quite recently by a rogue Rjurik mage in
the province of Aldrud in Hogunmark with the help of a priestess of Lara. The mace has a
grip made of granite, a shaft of sandstone, and a head of quartz. It has the following
enchantments: First, it has the ability to put a person to Sleep. Secondly, it can (once a
day) Cure Serious Wounds or Slow Poison. Finally, the shaft can be used as a Wand of Magic
Missiles. Currently, the mace is in the hands of Jannika Tjarlhan (FRj; Pr3, Lara; Vo,

adventure in the Imperial City.

Seeker
One of the light crossbows is in fact an ancient dwarven
weapon called Seeker (or Kranka, in the dwarven language). There were actually
once three of these weapons, all identical in appearance and function. They were made by a
master forge-priest of the powerful Rockhammer clan of Baruk-Azhik but over the centuries
since their forging, they have become lost and eventually passed into legend. Despite
their legendary status, the Seeker crossbows simply look like extremely well-crafted
crossbows. There are no identifying marks or symbols of any kind on any of the Seekers.
Seeker functions as a light crossbow +1 and can fire any light quarrel (even silver or
enchanted ones) although it has two extra powers. The first, and most important for it
gives the weapon its name, is Seeker's ability to deliver mortal wounds. If Seeker is used
to fire a light quarrel at an orog whose current hit points are less than the maximum
damage that could be caused by the quarrel, Seeker guides the quarrel to its target's
heart, killing it instantly. This ability only works on orogs - no other creature can be
killed in this fashion, not even half-orogs (although Seeker can be used normally against
any creature). In most cases, the maximum damage caused by a light quarrel fired from
Seeker is seven (1d6+1) so any orog with six or less points can be killed outright.
However, magical quarrels or unusual situations may change this number. Seeker's other
extra enchantment simply allows the weapon's owner to understand the orog tongue whenever
the weapon is held. Note thi!
s power only grants understanding of spoken orog - the ability to speak or write orog is
not gained.
The Rockhammer clan in Baruk-Azhik would be forever indebted to anyone who returned this
weapon to them. At the very least, the Rockhammers would throw a lavish celebration and

Sickle of Dimas
There are ten of these wicked items floating around the
Northern Marches. They were created by Dimas Ivanov (MV; Pr9, Belinik; Az, major 36; CE),
Head of the temple of the Vos of the Five Peaks to sow disorder throughout Anuire. The
shafts are made of copper, and the blades of electrum. The sickles have the ability to
Cause Disease and Animate Dead. Their major function, however is a Curse of Opposite
Alignment. These items have been covertly inserted into the domains of Cariele, Shoesone,
Mhoried, and Tuornen. Two are still within the Five Peaks, awaiting the proper time to
insert them into Talinie. Dimas himself is so black-hearted that it is said that he is
beginning to grow wings and his skin is becoming stony like a gargoyle's.

Spear of Andvarnulf
Created by the High Priest of Khurin-Azur when the Gorgon was still expanding his
Crownland, it's main power was to grant the blood power "battlewise" to its
holder. With it, the dwarves were able to hold on to Anathar (now a part of the Gorgon's
Crown) for much longer than the Gorgon would have liked. Taking the province was too dear
and he resolved not to fight the dwarves of Khurin-Azur again until he had taken or
destroyed the Great Spear. The Gorgon sent thieves, assasins, attempted possesions,
summonings, and various magics. The High Priest of Beronarr (one of the most omen friendly
gods in the Dwarven pantheon) was able to use divine
assistance (auguary, commune, and other such spells) to anticipate the Gorgon and protect
the Spear. As such today it is said to have the following powers.
Pass w/out a trace upon uttering "Zohra"
Exorcism 1 per mounth upon uttering "Zahra"
Grants the power "battlewise" to its holder
Granths the holder protecttion from possesion
it containes three knight Sielshesheln (red rubies)
claiming the spear illigitimatly (eg. theft) deals the false claimant 10d4 pts of
electrical damage.
You see most of the enchantments were designed to keep the thing safe once the Gorgon was
angered. The dwarves eventually decieded to hide the thing where the Gorgon wouldn't find
it. Thus the original dwarves who journeyed out to the GiantDowns were monastics (Temple
Guards) intent on hiding the Spear.
One of the PC's in my campaign is a Rjurik priest of Kirken. He was too militant to be a
druid, and was kicked out of his circle while still an acolyte. Confused by Holn's place
in the pantheon on the one hand and his place in Rjurik society on the other, he pusued a
study of Holn and then drifted toward Kirken. Commited to fighting the humanoids, he
learned the ways of Kirken and returned to his community. There he got the young men
(those pesky late teen early twenties) into a state which upset the druids and they
politly, but firmly asked him to go away for ever. Thus, my explanation of why I had a 1st
level Rjurik show up in Baruk-Azhik (on his way to Osoerde to offer his sword to his
father the duke of Osoerde, only to find out -horror of horrors- he had been executed by
Jaison Raemech, and his half-brother William was in hiding). The Spear is a campaign hook
to bring things back into Rjurik country for a few game sessions.

Spear of Curing
These items were created by each of the major temples of Haelyn on the face of Cerilia. There are ten known spears & one of legend. Each spear is made of either the thigh bone or from the tusks of a mammoth, and has a blunt, shale head. Each, upon striking an individual, heals that person as if he had Cure Light Wounds cast upon him. Each of the spears, from the oldest, in the care of the Orthodox Temple of
Haelyn, to the youngest, in the care of the temple of Haelyn's Warriors, is only brought out in times of great conflict, such as the Rohrmarch Civil War. The tenth known spear was lost over a century ago, when an order of paladins, operating under the auspices of the temple of Haelyn's Bastion of Truth disappeared somewhere within the Giantdowns.
The legendary spear was said to have had the power to cast Cure Light Wounds, Cure Serious Wounds, Cure Critical Wounds, or Heal, according to the needs of whomever the spear touched. This spear, created in 40 HC, was the original, and was lost at the Battle of
Kings, and is now believed to be only a myth. Whichever temple of Haelyn in Anuire, that finds it, shall gain much power over all the others.

Vladimirs Purity
Each half moon head of this large double-headed battle-axe is deeply pitted and stained with blood. The weapons haft is made of a strong, black metal that is warm to the touch. Crude Vos runic symbols decorate the length of the haft, dedicating the weapon to Belinik. As could be readily guessed from its gruesome appearance, this weapon has a very bloody past.
It was forged over 350 years ago by a priest of Belinik for a storeyed Vos tsarevo named Vladimir. Legend tells that on the final night of the
weapons forging, Belinik himself visited the priest, whose name is lost to history, and demanded of him the ultimate sacrifice so that the newly created weapon would be a true instrument of terror. Lost in religious fervour the priest unhesitatingly drew his dagger and thrust it deeply into his heart, bathing the battle-axe in his own life blood as his god had commanded. The priests blood stained the axes head with blood that could not be washed off. When Vladimir arrived at the isolated altar in the morning, he found the priests drained body, lying next to the bloodied battle-axe. One account tells of Vladimir sitting and staring at the weapon, whispering in response to some vision only he could see. Another claims that Vladimir run howling into the forest after taking up the weapon. Whatever the truth of the matter may be, it is certain that Vladimir wielded the weapon for the remainder of his life. With it, he spread war and strife throughout his lands, always invoking Beliniks name each time the weapon took a life. The battle-axe was thought lost with Vladimirs death at the hands of a huge cave bear but the weapon has surfaced occasionally in places all over Cerilia.
When used in combat, the battle-axe is +1 weapon except in the hands of a devout follower of Belinik (not necessarily a priest) in which case the bonus rises to +2. Regardless of who is wielding it, the weapon has another property which manifests only when it is used to draw blood. When this happens, the head of the axe starts to bleed and the haft of the weapon begins to pulse in the wielders hand.
These effects last until five rounds have passed without the axe tasting more blood (not including the blood that comes from the axe itself). There does not appear to be any limit to the amount of blood the axe can shed. The blood it sheds is real and it has the additional property of causing permanent stains (nothing short of magic can remove them).
