"Allow me to preface this work by explaining that a concerto
is a body of music with three contrasting movements. As such,
each verse is written in contrasting form and style, but a
constant theme runs throughout." VdeC

I.

I awake to Darkness, my white hand
reaching out from my black soul.
I grasp hold of a heart whose
pulse expands my fingers goal
as now I raise this life
to behold!
I awake to Darkness, I reach into
the pitch blackness of the night.
I hear the screams of silence
and see the faces of fright
that bring me this hold
of Despair.
I awake to Darkness, flailing
in misery to a thirst at last
I seek to quench; gives me a
longing for veins that burst.
I feel this desire
beckon me.

II.

Beseech me!
Look inside and reach me.
I am Darkness.
I am Bloodless.
Find here the soul that dares to rot. Embrace me!
Flee from nor hide from me.
Torture my soul,
but take control.
Insert your heart where mine is not!

III.

Of one blood I am not;
as of many Centuries forgot
so long ago and past beyond
the graves of mortals I was fond.
Within the flames I lost a love
to which I gave to Darkness above,
and speak not the name I've wronged. As tears of blood form on my cheek
and if mortal flesh, of that I reek. I do not pretend, that which I am,
for to this Darkness I be damned!
