| David's watch beeped, signaling it was 6:30. If we wanted to make it home in time we had to leave soon. Alex opened her eyes. No one else stirred. She rolled over and wrapped one leg around mine. She loved to cuddle, loved to be as close to me as possible. I closed my eyes and listened to her heart beat, and I felt her, as her chest raised and lowered with her breathing. I wrapped my arms around her back and kissed the top of her head. She smiled and kissed my chest. She'd tilted her head up, and I looked into her sparkling brown eyes. I raised my eyebrows and smiled. "Good thing you took Monday off." I said cheerfully. She smiled, then put her head back down and closed her eyes. |
| Alex had missed work so often on Monday, when I was there that summer. I smiled as I thought about her and my last summer, when we thought we would never see each other again. We were happy to go our separate ways forever, but something drew me back to her. I hugged her tight, snuggling close to her and I smiled again. I was happy to be with her again. I closed my eyes and fell back asleep. |

| A week had passed and Lily, Dave, Alex and I packed up to go on another weekend adventure. We had arrived at our favorite camp sight, eaten and were sitting around the fire talking about the events of the last week. David ran his fingers over his newly buzzed hair, complaining that it was too cold out. Lily giggled and let her curly brown hair down from the ponytail that normally held her hair off her face. I looked at her as though I'd never seen her before. She was beautiful. Alex started telling us about her work week. My eyes were glued on her lips, nearly crying out for her to kiss me. I smiled at her...my lover. We'd changed so much from our days as just friends. I now knew what a wonderful person she was, outside of friendly telephone calls and drunken nights when I carried her home from parties. She was beautiful to me. I know now what everyone saw in her. |
| David, quickly bored with stories that weren't about him, started playing with Lily's hair. Alex looked at me and cocked an eyebrow. I smiled and moved to kiss her. Alex kissed me deeply and passionately, then I moved my kisses to her cheek and ears. I kissed her ears, whispering, "I never want to leave you, losing you again would kill me." She smiled and whispered that she was mine for eternity. |
| I smiled and then gracefully moved my mouth down her face to her neck. She tilted her head to see the stars and pulled me closer to her. Just then a shooting star shot across the sky, she made a wish. A wish to be with me forever. Faintly I whispered "forever and ever". She started to ask how I had known her wish, but I gently nipped her neck. She smiled, knowing that I was in too playful a mood, and decided that her questions could wait. I whispered "Do not scream, I won't hurt you." I read her mind as it raced with the questions of what I meant. Before her mind could completely question my whisper I let my teeth bite down, hard, on her neck. Her body squirmed under my weight from pain and some strange erotic pleasure. She was shocked that she was enjoying this. |
| Suddenly her mind registered what was happening. She panicked, her arms rushing to my shoulders trying to pry me off. She tried to scream but could not. I was sucking the blood out of her, and she knew it. In fear, she went perfectly still. I could not let her go. I could not stop. |
| Finally I removed my teeth and licked her neck, healing the wound. I raised my head and gave her my mouth to kiss. She did, I read her thoughts as she did so. She was still questioning me. She was weak. Yet she was tasting my lips, almost as if to see if I'd really done that, or if it was her imagination. She thought my lips tasted of sweet love, and then of bitter fear. It was not until our kiss ended that she realized that she was tasting her blood. HER BLOOD she nearly screamed. Her love. Her fear. |
| This time I raised my head and looked at the stars. "Drink," I said. She looked at me confused. "Drink," I commanded this time. |
| I don't remember her lowering her gaze or biting me, but suddenly her mouth was full of blood and she had no choice but to swallow deep mouth fulls of my blood. My life. I felt the blood poor out of me and into her...I heard it enter into her mouth and her deep gasps to swallow. Nothing seemed wrong with this act. Her mind had erased the "grossness" of it. Her hormones took her over, she gripped onto me tightly and she drank my blood as though she was a starving child suckling at her mother's breast. |
| I pulled her off me and kissed her again. She looked at me. "What have I done?" she asked. |
| I smiled, "Joined me." |
| She looked up at the sky and asked, "Forever?" |
| I kissed the top of her head, "Forever." I smiled to reassure her. She rested her head on my chest, and started to fall asleep to the sound of my breathing. |
| Before she fell asleep she whispered "I love you." |
| I wrapped my arms around her back. "And I love you." I said. "I love you." |
| We closed our eyes and fell asleep in each other's arms. |
