Well, to say that Buffy had a bad day would hardly even begin to describe to turmoil she
went through in today's show. This will be a pretty long entry, 'cause there was a whole
lot going on in the show. The show left off last week with Buffy running into the library to
discover that Kendra has been killed. As the show continued, Buffy turns around as the
cops run into the library yelling for her to put up her hands. As she stands up she notices
that Xander has been hurt, and tries to run to him, but the cops grab her, and drag her out
into the hall. Principal Snyder then approaches them and discloses Buffy's identity (what a
pathetic little leech). Anyway, as Buffy is being cuffed she turns around and knocks the
cop out (oh yeah, work it girl!) As she runs down the hall the other cops come running
out of the library and start shooting at her, but luckily she gets away unharmed. Later on
Buffy goes to look for her friends at the hospital, knowing that they have been hurt. She
talks to Xander and finds out that Willow is in a coma, and the longer she stays in it, the
less likely she is to recover. Buffy begins to feel incredibly guilty for allowing Willow to
perform the curse and is determined to make sure her loverboy goes down (as in dead!)
She realizes that Giles isn't at the hospital, so she goes to his house to look for him. He
isn't there but Whistler is ( he's some kind of immortal demon who is condemned to live on
earth eternally or some other yadda shmadda) He tells her that in order for Angel to
awaken Acathla and bring forth the vortex to hell, he must have his own blood on his
hands when he pulls the sword from Acathla's chest. If Angel succeeds, the only way to
close the vortex is for Angel's blood to be shed. Buffy leaves, and is stopped by a patrol
car, but before the cop has the chance to cuff her, he's attacked by, (bet you didn't guess
this one right) Spike. Believe it or not, Spike wants to help Buffy stop Angel from
destroying the world. Apparently, the only reason he even cares is because he wants Angel
dead so that he can have Drusilla back. I kinda liked what Buffy said here, "you want my
help because your girlfriend is a big hoe? Let me take this opportunity to NOT care!" In
the end though, she realizes that she needs Spike in order to take Angel out. Buffy walks
with Spike to her house so that they can talk privately, as they are walking up her porch
Buffy's mom, (who by the way had been talking to the police earlier in the show because
they thought Buffy killed Kendra) drives up, demanding to know where Buffy had been.
Buffy and Spike try to convince her that they had been out practicing for the band they
were in (not great liars). She doesn't believe them, but agrees to go inside to talk about it.
As they walk up the front steps, wouldn't you know it, a vampire appeared. Together,
Buffy and Spike take him out, while Mrs. Summers looks on in blatant confusion. She
demands to know what is going on, and the moment of truth arrives. "Mom, I'm a vampire
slayer." They go inside and Buffy calls the hospital to find out how Willow is doing, and
finds out that she has woken up from her coma and is doing fine. She talks to Willow
awhile, while Spike and Mrs. Summers sit in the living room chit-chatting. Buffy comes in
and makes Spike an ultimatum; until she can attack the mansion where Angel is holding
Giles captive, Spike must keep Giles safe, or else she will kill Drusilla. After Spike leaves,
Mrs. Summers confronts Buffy, and they get into an argument in which Mrs. Summers
tells her daughter that if she leaves, she can't come back. Buffy then goes back to get a
sword to kill Angel with from the library and encounters the sniveling coward of a man,
Principal Snyder (can you say creep?) who expels Buffy from school. In the meantime,
Buffy is unaware that Willow has decided to try the curse to restore Angel's soul once
more. Willow has sent Xander to tell Buffy about it so that she can stall for time. Xander
waits on a hill for Buffy to get to the mansion, where all the vamps are hanging together,
but when he sees her instead of telling her that Willow is going to perform the curse, he
tells her to kick Angels ass. (I don't know about you guys, but I am just the teeniest bit
ticked at him for this!) Sooooo, Buffy enters the mansion and begins to kick major
vampire booty while Xander help Giles escape, and Spike fights Dru to get her out of the
mansion before Buffy and Angel start to really go at it. Well, pretty soon it's just the two
of them, but Angel has already performed the ritual and pulled the sword out of Acathla's
heart, so the vortex is already beginning to form. Angel knocks away Buffy's sword, and
when it seems that she is gone for sure, she makes a comeback, and puts Angel in the
position in which he is THIS CLOSE to death. At the same time, Willow has completed
the spell, and Angel's soul is returned. He looks up at Buffy with tears in his eyes and
confusion on his face. Buffy realizes that he has regained his soul, but as they hold each
other close, Buffy sees over Angel's shoulder that Acathla's mouth is begin to open the
vortex to hell. Angel can't remember anything that has happened since his soul was taken,
so he doesn't know what is going on. He senses from the look in Buffy's eyes that
something is wrong and asks her what it is. Instead of telling him, Buffy kisses him one
last time and tells him that she loves him. Then she pushes him away from her and stabs
him in the stomach with her sword. I know it is horrible, but she remembers that Whistler
told her that after the vortex is open, the only way to close it is to shed Angel's blood. The
vortex closes, and even though she has saved the world, her heart is broken because
she knows she has lost Angel. In the conclusion, we see Buffy's mom go into Buffy's room,
which has been completely emptied of Buffy's clothes, and read some sort of letter that
Buffy had written her. Next, all of the gang hangs around the front of the school waiting
for Buffy to come. None of them know that she has been expelled, so they expect her to
show up at any minute. The very last thing we see is Buffy sitting on a bus that is leaving
Sunnydale. No indication is given of where she is going, so who knows? I have got to say,
I think this is the best episode of Buffy yet, not to mention the most heart-wrenching, and tear-jerking.
