Candyman in my opinion is the 3rs best horror movie of the nineties (only being out rated
by SCREAM and SCREAM 2). We rented it for my 12th birthday slumber party and we
all freaked out while watching it and decided after watching it that we just weren't going
to go to sleep that night.=) Tony Todd's voice (the guy who plays Candyman) was so
creepy! Every time I watch it and I hear him talk, chills run up my spine!
Candyman is an Urban legend about this black man who comes through your window
when you call his name 5 times and kills you with his hook-for-a-hand. The movie
starts out with college kids telling Helen and her friend about Candyman and the latest
story about him. A girl invited a 'bad boy'
type guy that she was crushing on over to the house she was baby-sitting at and after the
baby was asleep, they went into the bathroom and called out Candyman's name 4 times but
chickened out-she told him to go down stairs and she'd be down in a sec for them to have
some fun, and then she said Candyman's name one last time and he appeared behind her
and killed her and the baby-but they guy got away and was now no where to be found but
people say his hair turned white in fear of Candyman.
Pretty creepy hunh? Well, since they were researching Candyman
and he is an urban legend Helen didn't believe in him. And since Helen didn't
believe in him, he decided he'd come back and make her believe in him. And since
she just happened to look like the girl who he was killed for having relations with, he was
going to make her his partner also. He took her to the apartment building where the
Candyman 'Sweet' was and into the apartment next to his. He killed the dog, and took the
woman's baby. Helen awoke in the bathroom from screams in the other room and was
surrounded by blood on the floor. She found the dog with a knife beside him and took it
since she
didn't know what all the screaming was about. When she entered the room, the woman
whose baby was now gone came after her and Helen had to defend herself against the
woman and when Helen had finally got her off of her and pinned down the cops burst in
and arrested Helen under suspicion of murder since the baby was no where to be found.
Helen was released and went back home with her husband Trevor. While looking through
some slides of the Candyman apartment
building and when she saw Candyman in the background of one she freaked out and
turned it off. Soon Candyman showed up again and after knocking Helen unconscious
again killed her best friend Burnadett. When Helen awoke in her bed surrounded by police
officers, she ran into the living room and saw that she was in fact dead and then she was
taken to a mental institution where she was sedated for a period of a couple months. She
broke out after Candyman killed her shrink/lawyer and returned home to her apartment
to find her husband shacking up with a student from his class.
Like I said before, this movie is excellent. I'm not going to ruin it for you so go and rent it and find out how the movie ends!!
