Carrie is also a book written by Stephen King. Its about a girl who is an outcast in her school because of her looks and the fact that her mother has kept her sheltered her whole life. When in the beginning of the movie-she gets her period-and doesn't know whats going on, she goes to the other girls in her gym class to seek help but they all just keep laughing at her and throwing tampons and pads screaming "Plug it up! Plug it up!" The coach comes in and makes the other girls go away and explains what happens when you get your period.

She goes home to her sickeningly religious mother and she thinks she has committed a sin just because she has had her period. Now is that messed up or what?

Ok, so all the girls get punished a weeks detention for what they did to Carrie and have to stay after school with their gym teacher-doing rigorous exercises. One of the girls gets mad because of all that she is having to go through and picks a fight with the teacher causing her to miss the prom which is coming up soon.

Anyways, one of the girls, Sue, realizes what she has done is wrong-and asks her boyfriend to ask poor Carrie to the prom to get her to join in on things and have at least one good day in her life.

Well, while all this is going on-Carrie is realizing that she has telekinetic powers and can make things happen with her mind.

When Tommy asks her to the prom-she thinks its just another trick on her-but soon gives in.

The trouble maker of her gym class plans revenge on Carrie for being the reason why she can't go to prom and when she finds out that Carrie will be at the prom-she plans her revenge to take place there.

Carrie gets all dressed up and goes to the prom with Tommy where everything seems to be going great for a while. She even gets elected prom queen! But just when things couldn't be better, a bucket full of pigs blood gets poured on poor Carrie. Well, when everyone in the entire gym starts to laugh at her Carrie finally blows up and takes her revenge out on all the jerks who have screwed her over for most of her life.

I won't ruin the whole ending for those who haven't seen it=)

But I wish they would have done a sequel-they sure as hell left an opening for one.

As with all Stephen King books, Carrie, the
novel version is said to be much better than
the movie. I haven't personally read it myself
yet-but with personal experience with other
Stephen King novels and the movies made
about them I'm going to have to go with the
general consensus.
