LADY OF DARKNESS
Silent stone sentinels
Guard the approach
of the Lady
The Lady of Darkness
She returns from another
Mist enshrouded eve
Another of Night's hauntings
Procuring her a dark repast
A youth, eager for
A night of lust
To bed a wench
His only task to pronounce
His manhood
But, the Lady soon
Cuts short his amorous attempts
For he was not really her equal
Barely a challenge
Alas, the Lady misses
The simple seductions
She misses the love
Of another being
The warmth and compassion
Of an intertwined coupling
The Lady quickly dismisses
Entertaining such foolish thoughts
Of idyllic bliss
And gives in to her morbid reality
Of eternal life alone
My Familiar
A bat
In the darkened sky
I look up to see
His lonely wandering
The bat is as my heart
Dark, mysterious, and free
Drifting where he may
Where the winds of fortune take me
And yet I hear his shrill cry
And I think for one brief moment
Of how lonely it must be
Alone in the night...
And how lonely it is down here, also...
Millennia
I have walked the Earth
through the ages.
I remember when the Pyramids
were constructed.
I've seen the so called
Messiah crucified.
I was in Rome
when she fell.
I witnessed good King Louis
lose his head.
You mortals fascinate me.
All of your murdering and killing
in some god's name, or colored banners
that wave in some ill-begotten breeze.
WE kill merely for food,
one or two an evening usually suffice.
And you call US "monsters"?
I've seen the battlefields
after your skirmishes.
Many more humans dead and dying
than my kind have ever plundered.
You mortals and your "weapons of mass destruction",
WE vampyres are the victims
in this world.
