Frederic Chopin

Frederic Chopin was a great composer of the Romanic era.  He was born in Zelazowa Wola, Poland on February 22, 1810.  He quickly became known for his ability as a performer and later for his compositions.

By the 1820's he was well known as a performer and composer all over Europe.  Durring this time he toured Europe giving concerts in many major cities.  When he performed in Paris he loved the city so much he decided to move there.  After his move to Paris he never returned to Poland again.

In Paris he became even more well known and never had any shortage of performances or commisions for pieces.  He is known for a couple different kinds of music. He wrote many short lyrical songs for piano as well as longer more elaborate pieces for many instruments.  He also befriended many of the great artists if his time in Paris.  He kept friends such as Hugo, Lizet, Schumann, and Delacroix.

Unfortunatly Chopin died rather young of tuberculosis.  This plagued him through the last two years of his life.  He died on October 17, 1849 at the age of 39.  He will be remembered for generations to come for his great compositions and performances.
