Clara Wieck Schumann
Clara Wieck was born in Lepizig Germany on September 13, 1809.  She was from two musical parents who wanted her to become a musician.  Her first complete recital was in 1828 when she was 9.  She studied piano, voice, violin, composition, scoring.  She later wrote and published
several pieces for solo piano.

In 1830 she met her husband Robert Schumann when he came to study with her father. Schumann was known as a womanizer and Clara's father did not like her to see him.  In fact when they were married he brought a law suit against them to try to stop the marriage.

In 1853 she and Robert met Johannes Brahms who would be their life time friend.  Clara and Brahms were especially close after Robert's death of syphilis.  There are rumors that the two were lovers but they are unconfirmed.
