CANAIMA NATIONAL PARK, the largest in Venezuela and the sixth largest in the world, was created by executive decree No. 770 of june 12, 1962. It covers an area of three million hectares (aproximately 7.5 million acres), in the region known as the Guayana Highlansd southeastern Venezuela, falling into the jurisdiction of pair and Roscio Districts of the State of Bolivar. It contains the world's two highest waterfalls: Angel Fall a sight on incomparable natural beaty with a free fall of 1.002 meters (2.275 feet) high.
The most striking Tepuy (mesa) is Auyantepuy, with an area of 700 square kilometers. It is known as the Devil's Mountain.
Canaima National Park is unique. It contains several different biospheres and an enormous variety of fauna and flora. In short, it is unquestionably one of the most important natural areas, not only in Venezuela, but of the entire Western Hemisphere.
When you go to Canaima National Park, you should enjoy the escenery, but be aware that any carelessness of your part could be destructive, such as by causing a forest fire. Please help by not using cigarettes or matches, and if you must do so, please be careful to put them out before leaving the area. Try to keep the park clean by not throwing away trash and picking up cans on the ground
