CONVINCE
Talk all day but no one
will listen,
Try so hard to make a difference.
You got to wonder what it all comes down to, this life,
I mean, what can you do?
On we trek, always looking
out,
For something new to learn, someone to teach.
New excitement, experiences, places,
What does it matter if I haven't got you?
People tell me I must
do things that they find
Natural, right and true.
Not one of them gives a second thought
To the fact I may be right, not them.
The knowledge embodied
in the lives of all
Those dogmas still largely held as narrow truths.
But those are not worth the spark of reason
In the mind of one.
The problem lies in defending
your belief
When nobody else wants to listen.
Nobody else willing to maintain the same sacrifice,
To be considered unusual by my side.
Maybe I should try to
believe,
Be just like them, to keep the peace.
It's hard to lie down when you know
The lies others buy are just what they are.
Time repeats, retreats,
implements failure
And encourages the gregarious whole to follow.
I can't ever convince or be convinced,
Why do I even try?
