LYNESS

Lyness talks to me lightly on the telephone,
She tells me she worries about where I'm going.
I'm not too sure myself.
Time talks to you wisely before leaving town,
It seems like the way to go.
Follow my heart into the depths of the rainbow,
Someday I'll be opening.
Yet I still think about Lyness and the days gone by,
When we sat down by the sea,
Before complications raised the issues they raised,
And we were all free to be as we please.
She has got herself stuck in a dead-end boy's mind.
The jealous type who won't allow our friendship.
I can't understand why she's won't leave,
Life is too precious to waste.
Now and again I see them together, and
All I can think of is the things that she said,
"I want to move on and try other things, "
"But I'm all to him and more."
Lyness talks again about her unhappiness,
And the things she'd like to do.

My advice is the one thing I give, but she never listens,
Scared to be different than she has known.
Time spent explaining the depth of my soul, to her
It is something best left unexplored.
Can't face the truth of reality as it bites
Into the facts of our green apple lives.
Once more I tell her, not for my gain, but for hers
To leave him and be happy again.
"But will I?" Comes the reply, "How do I know?"
"Maybe this is all I can truly have".
The strain of the restrains is beginning to show,
The thought of freedom raises its head.
Security is good but not as refreshing as change,
Which brings rewards unheard of before.
Yet Lyness begins again to repent to my advice,
Walks away and hides behind a scared defense.
When will I help her wake up to herself?
My God, I'm down on my knees.
