The G8 runs riot

They are coming. Headed for Kananaskis, running riot, burning, destroying, looting everything in their path. Some call them the g8, some the g7. They can be called the group of 8 or the group of 7 but all they really want you to call them is "yes massa".

Knowing that they face protest, they have taken Kananaskis (Called K-Country by people who realize how rude Kan-an-as-kis sounds) as their hostage, taking Mother Nature as a human shield.

That the G8 is borrowing it's tactics from terrorists is alone worthy of outrage. There are other reasons.

* The G8 (g7 etc.) lies, making empty promises, saying that they will end the debt crisis, in which starving third world citizens pay welfare to rich banks in rich countries, because those bankers made bad loans to vicious dictators, usually decades ago.

* The G8 thinks itself a replacement for the United Nations, with one crucial difference - in the UN the poor can vote but in the G8 all they can do is provide photo-ops.

* The Group of Eight is misnamed, it would better be called the G1 because of the way it follows George W Bush, a man who can probably go down in history as the man who has thrown the most international treaties onto the bonfire since Adolf Hitler. Even "globalization" is a one-way street under Bush - just look at the Softwood Lumber and Steel disputes.

* The G8 supports neoism (neoliberalism/neoconservatism), in which workers are caught in a race to the bottom (which means more taxes), and corporations get control of governments, inevitably leading to Stalin-like concentrations of economic and political power.
