Paper Recycling with Novelty Items

This course is designed to present to the participants the big business potential of paper recycling to create novelty items for export and local distribution. At the same time, the course provides opportunity for the participants to hone their artistic skills in creating product designs with aesthetic and commercial value.

The course is delivered in both lecture and hands-on sessions. The lecture session is heavy on concept presentation and discussion, which include the general business situation of handmade paper industry, product costing, the handmade paper making process, technical production aspect, product development, pricing and marketing, suppliers and materials sourcing, tools and equipment, chemical usage, supply and demand analysis, production specification, packaging, promotional plan and budgeting, sales projection.

For the hands-on session, the course involves the participants in the actual paper recycling, starching and assembling of picture frame, fan, penholder and tray.
