Within 3 days and 2 nights, we, together with the other sections in the fourth year held the climax of our 4 year SAP pursuits, the Immersion. It was indeed a very memorable happening from all of us. Not only we learned to value the hard work and the lives of our kababayans in the rural areas but also, we learned to do things on our own. Just imagine, 3 days and 2 nights far from our homes and all we are doing is help our foster parents and learn to live for ourselves. I admit, what happened to us there was no ordinary event. In our minds, we have lots of memories to keep and lots of moments to cherish. Though the strong rain may have hindered some of the activities that we planned on that immersion, still, we consider it a success. Why? For the reason that we have achieved the true essence of the immersion. As Father Gerard has told us in our orientation for the immersion, the essence there is not to donate the goods nor make some sort of a vacation. What matters there is that we should learn the lives of those people whose lifestyles are far more different from us. As others would say, malayo raw sa kabihasnan. What I have felt in the duration of the activity was really worthwhile for me. In some way, their lives touched mine through some simple conversations with them and also, living their way of lives. It was indeed a touching event not only to myself but also, to the whole 4-40 class of St. Bede. If you could only see their different expressions in their eyes, you will definitely say, the immersion was a success. |
