Strange words are often thrown about in prophetical discussions which often form an obstacle to new Christians and others who are investigating prophecy. It is always helpful to define our terminology, especially if they are Biblical ones. Some of these terms, like "Bible Codes", have no Scriptural basis but, because of popular usage, require some explanation. Numerical items are found in alphabetical order (ie. 144, 000 is found under "O"). There are only a few of the most essential Proper names listed. A more thorough listing of persons can be found here (ie. authors, inspired and otherwise, as well as other persons who are important to our topic).

Parable
Parousia :
"presence" or "arrival". Used in a general sense in the following
verses: 1 Corinthians 16:17; 2 Cor 7:6,7 and 10:10;
Philippians 1:26 and 2:12. When it is used of Jesus Christ it describes
His coming for the saints ( Mat. 24:3, 27, 37 and 39; 1 Corinthians 15:23;
1 Thessalonians 2:19; 3:13; 4:15; 5:23; 2 Thessalonians 2:1,8; James 5:7,8;
2 Peter 1:16; 3:4,12; 1 John 2:28. It is used for the coming of the Man
of Sin in 2 Thessalonians 2:9. Attempts are sometimes made by some to make
"parousia" refer to the rapture and "apokalupsis" refer to the coming
in glory. This is not borne out in Scripture. Others see two "parousias",
certain passages referring to Christ coming for His saints and then with
(sic) His saints. It seems better to understand parousia as a general,
generic term for Christ's coming. It is used, moreover, to refer
to the coming or presence of one in authority and of royalty.
