Jack Dewey Lee

Jack Dewey Lee, Sr., age 58 of Rt. 3 Whitney died in a Temple hospital Saturday, August 6, 1988. Services were Monday at 1 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Chapel with the Reverend Allan Lane officiating. Burial was in Whitney Memorial Park.
Mr. Lee was born November 17, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The son of Vernon and Ada Berry Lee. He lived most of his life in Hobbs, New Mexico before moving to Whitney fourteen years ago. He married Lenda Moody in May
1957. He was preceded in death by an infant son, John William Lee. He was in the cafe business in Whitney. He was a retired oilfield worker. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1950.
He is survived by his wife, Lenda Lee of Lake Whitney; one daughter Janeen Ingle of Hobbs, New Mexico; two sons, Rick Lee of Lake Whitney and Jack Lee Jr. of Lake Whitney; two brothers, Douglas Lee of Hobbs, New Mexico and Vernon Lee Jr. of Stockton, California; two sisters, Joyce Pope of Lovington, New Mexico and Faye Coulston of Hobbs, New Mexico, four grandchildren and one great grandson.

Lenda Clara Lee, 67, of Whitney passed away at her residence on Novembe 2, 2004.

She was the daughter of John and Mabel (Morgan) Moody, Sr.

She married Jack D. Lee, Sr. on May 21, 1957. They moved to Whitney in 1975 and owned three restaurants before retiring in 1986.

Lenda was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack on August 6, 1988; infant son, John William Lee and sister, Kathy Ball.

Survivors include his children; Janeen Cox and husband, Ray of Jefferson, Rick Lee and wife, Bonnie of Whitney, Jack Lee Jr. and wife, Sissy of Whitney; brother, John Moody, Jr. and wife, Maria of Hobbs, New Mexico; sister, Lisa Obst of Ruidoso, New Mexico; grandchildren, Christy Youngblood, Tracy Holleyfield, Jack Lee, III, Sandra Haygood, Jamie Motherspau, Amber Lee, Jeremy Lee, Melissa Lee, Laramie Cox, Michael Cox, and Christy Cox;
great grandchildren, James Russell Ingle, Dakota Quiroz, Damien Holleyfield, Lexy Holleyfield, Bailey Haygood, Hunter Haygood, Christian Motherspau, Destiny Cox, Trinity Cox and Chasity Cox.

enlisted 4 Nov 1775 in the 1st SC Regiment under Col Charles Pinckney; served as private until 7 Mar 1778 when promoted to corporal; discharged 10 Aug 1778. In 1779 served under Capt. Oliver Towles. Served in 1780
and 1781. He was so badly wounded during the Rev.War that he remained a cripple the rest of his life. REF A. Hutto record Sept. 29, 1909. Also states that Henry Hutto was a Petty Officer in Washington's Army. Will
27 Aug 1817, Barnwell Co. South Carolina. John Henry Hutto b. 26 May, 1753 (son of Charles Hutto). Despite some DAR applications and what was published in "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia", the evidence leans toward
John Henry Hutto b. 26 May, 1753 (son of Charles Hutto) as being the Henry Hutto that moved to Georgia and died there after 1833. The Henry Hutto that married Ann Zorn appears to have been the son of Peter Hutto
and was christened on 25 Dec 1752. He later died 24 Oct 1817 while still in South Carolina."
