1759 - On Friday July 20th died after Nine Days Illness, and the Day after was interred in the
Plantation of Nicholas Yonn, in Orangeburgh Township, the Body of Nicholas, Son of the Said Nicholas and Christina Yonn: Aged almost Eight Years

Nicholas Yawn came on Georgia passport from Orangeburg, SC to Mississippi on Thurs. 21st November 1811 or 21 Dec 1811 to take his wife and one child to travel through the Indian Nations to the Western Country. Family appears in Amite County, MS tax rolls; Pike County census, 1816 then tax rolls until 1835. On Topisaw Creek. Nicholas is in the 1850 Mortality Schedule. Was a widower, farmer b. SC. He and famiy were Methodist (See Marion Co. court records regarding a land deed for campground?). Mortality census 1850 Marion Co. Mississippi. Age 63, wid. b. S.C. death Sept. farmer. Also on Jan 4, 1841 Nicholas Yawn and Selvester, his wife sold 80 acres of land to John Carney. pg 233 Marion Co. MS Misc. Records by E. RussWilliams. Jacob Sistrunk and wife Mariah sold 60 acres for $150 to Nicholas Yawn in Marion Co. MS on 5 Apr 1849.

I found a Nicholas Yawn in PASSPORTS ISSUED BY THE GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA, 1810-1820, a publication of the National Genealogical Society. "Thurs. 21st November 1811. On application ORDERED That passports be prepared for the following persons to travel through the Indian Nations to the Western Country, viz, One for Messrs. WILLIAM SANDERS, NICHOLAS YAWN, OBADIAH NIXON, MILES PARKER and MRS. ELIZABETH RUTLAND, the first with his wife nine children and one negro, the second with his wife and one child and the latter with one child, all from Orangeburgh District, South Carolina." Is this the same Nicholas Yawn who was in Lawrence and Marion Cos., MS? I found several land transactions in MARION COUNTY MISSISSIPPI MISCELLANEOUS RECORDS by E. Russ Williams. The last one was "William Rutland of Lawrence County, for $225.00..." Recorded 20 October 1849. Selvester was on several deeds prior to the 20 October 1849 deed suggesting that she had died before that date. Nicholas was on it the 1850 Mortality schedule of Marion Co., MS as Yawn, Nicholas Marion Co.., 63, m, W(idowed) Sep, SC Diarrhea, 00, 1, farmer. - Sybil Chapman
