George Archer

George Archer was sent to Virginia by Justinian Cooper in 1636. He settled in Warrasquenock (now Isle of Wight County). About 1655-1665 George was granted 550 acres on Tunstall's Creek, Bermuda Hundred, in Henrico County (now Chesterfield County), Virginia. His home, Archer's Hall, was erected on this land. He later was granted patents for other land in the vicinity. Rent Rolls of April 1705, Henrico County, Virginia: Geo. Archer 1738 acres, Jno. Archer 335 acres, Jno. Archer 125 acres. Will located in Henrico County dated Nov 24, 1625 appointed George Jr. as administrator Mar 16, 1675/76. Henrico Co. Land Patents George Archer, 550 acres, Henrico Co., June 2, 1665. In Bristol Parish on N. side of Appamatox River next above the old towne land, running for breadth from a marked lyne of the old Towne at the mouth of a neck called Tunstalls, S.S.W. along the Riv. to the path at the Poynt of Landing at the water side below & nere the dwelling house formerly sold by Wm. Ridly to Jno. Mudgett so directly as the path is now through the Meadow until it come to the foot of the hill to a tree by sd. path &c. to where Mudgett formerly and Archer now liveth. 250 acs. purchased of Edward Tunstall, but finding his tytle to bee invalid traversed (?) an office, by virtue of which office the said land was found to escheate to his Majesty upon composition made his said land was confirmed &c. 300 acs. for trans. of 6 pers: Xtopher. Kennings, Thomas Moore, Wm. Traveler, Benjamin Vintua (?), Robt. Crimly (or Croinly), Richard Reade. George Archer, 250 acres, Henrico Co., according to the ancient bounds thereof, 30 Dec. 1663. Formerly granted to Edward Tunstall & lately found to escheate to his Majestie as by inquisition etc.


Sarah Elizabeth Wood

After George Archer's death, his widow married Joseph Royall III. They had a son named Henry Royall. Joseph Royall III, born 1646, was the son of Joseph Royall II and Katherine Banks. He had previously been married to Mary Eppes


Avis Rudd

10 November 1795 - Thomas ELLOTT and Prudence h/w, and Peter CHEATHAM, Thomas CHEATHAM, and Eleazar CHEATHAM by Peter CHEATHAM their guardian and next friend, and John COATES and Tabitha h/w vs Barnett CHEATHAM, Robertson CHEATHAM, and Samuel CHEATHAM, sons and administrators of Thomas CHEATHAM, dec'd., and Avis CHEATHAM, widow and Admx. Court orders that estate be divided 1/3 to widow & 1/8 to each of others. (Chstrfld Co. COB 11, p. 239)
September 1818 - Will of Avis RUDD CHEATHAM written. She names daughter Prudence ELLIOTT ($1.00), son Barnett ($1.00), son Robertson ($1.00), daughter Tabitha COATS (1 feather bead, 1/3 part of all bed clothes, 1 trunk, and 1/2 of wearing clothes), son Samuel ($1.00), son Thomas ($1.00), son Eleazer (debt due to me from my son Thomas of $25.00), Sally CHEATHAM, wife of son Peter (all residue of estate, all stock of every description, house hold and kitchen furniture, all other goods). John R. WALKE and James ELAM were exors. (Chesterfield Co., VA, WB 9, p. 71) On 14 December 1818 John R. WALKE exor. removed his right in open court and on motion of Tabitha COATS who took oath and was granted letters of administration
