Isaacks, Lizzie 6-12-1882 6-26-1967 (Mama) (wife of D.W.)
Had a small efficiency apt in Jacksonville, TX and was very HOT and he had no air cond.
He was a sweetheart & when I was young he took me to a huge turkey farm where he worked.
I have photo of me with him and two jack mules & a buckboard wagon! I went to town in a buckboard wagon pulled by two jack mules. How many people can say that! Every time Homer had a girlfriend his Mother Lizzie would conveniently have heart troubles and so he never married. He was a faithful son and took care of both Parents until they died. He died a lonely man with no children.

To: jwknott@sprynet.com CC: PaceNetwrkJuliejohn, I was glad to finally find someone else researching Hardy Pace! My direct descendants are Thomas Watts and Susanna Hutchins Pace Berry through their daughter Caroline Watts, but I have long wanted to find the names of Susanna's other two husbands. I have written to the Pace families in Jasper, but have had no response.
Susanna was b. 1788 in GA. After Hardy's father died (presumably) she married ? Berry and had two children, Seborn Berry b. 1813 and Elizabeth Berry b. 1814 both born in SC. Susanna and Thomas were married in Ouachita Parish LA in 1815 (not in 1827 as cited in some sources). Thomas and Susan had four children born in LA: Hiram (who married an Elizabeth L. Pace), Emiline, Thomas Jr, and Rebecca. They moved to Jasper TX in 1825 (as stated in Thomas' character certificate for admittance to the Mexican Province) and had 5 more children: Solomon, Susan, William, Caroline, and Thales.
I obtained information from Mr. Robert Conn of Kirbeyville TX, a series of newspaper articles published in the Kirbeyville Banner titled "Early Settlers in Jasper County," the research of Mr. Thomas Mulligan of Corpus Christi TX, census records, the book "More Early Southeast Texas Families" by Madeleine Martin, and the 1835 census of Texas.
In the newspaper articles there is mention of Hardy owning a home in Vinings GA during the Civil War that was occupied by the Northerners and used as a Federal hospital, but I have a feeling the writer had him mixed up with one of the other Hardy Paces of that era.
I would like to hear from you and compare notes.

This might be an error on the part of the census taker or transcriber. Both Luke and Marieda are listed as married but no spouse is shown. Or possibly there are two farmhouses and they are separated.
