The original idea:

It was first published (as far as we know) by Héctor San Segundo in one of his bulletins of the group "Los Acertijeros", and later in "El Acertijo" magazine.

It read:
" Place on a chessboard the highest possible number of each of the chess pieces, so each of them attack the same number of free squares (at least one)"

The variation:

It was first published (as far as we know) by Marcelo Fabián Iglesias in one of his bulletins of the group " Los Acertijeros", and later in an e-mail sent to the discussion forum "Snark"

It read:
"Place on a chessboard two or more different chess pieces so that:

"Egalitarian Attacks" Project

Based on this idea, a group of fans (Enrique Fernández, Rodolfo Kurchan and Marcelo Iglesias) joined in order to complete all the possible combinations of pieces.

The following pages show the best results we could get.

The future:

The solutions we found might not be the optimum. Any board that improves our findings will be gladly welcome and its author will be immortalized in these pages.

We can also imagine an infinite number of variations:·

• Symmetrical arrangements.
• The number of squares that each piece attacks equals one, two, three…
• Use fantasy chess pieces.
• Etc, etc.

Of course, any new idea, variation or suggestion will be very welcome
