Side in victory over Scotland
Mernagh continues
his fine form with 2 strikes for Ireland in a 4-2 victory in Dublin.
Well done to Johnny Mernagh & Seamie Crow on another fine performance
from both players in the Ireland Shirt.

Athenry defeat Corrib Rangers 0-2 to reach Final of Michael Byrne
Cup Two
goals from in form striker Johnny Mernagh put Athenry through to another
final in the space of four days. Corrib Rangers put up good resistance
to Athenrys attacking play and threatened from a number of set pieces
until Athenry broke in the second half and Mernagh pounced to put
Athenry in front. Another late strike from johnny put Athenry 2 up
in the final seconds of play.

Athenry through to the Clubs
First Connnacht Junior Cup Final Athenry
travelled to Sligo to face last year connacht cup champions Abbey
utd last weekend. In a game where Athenry dominated , they suprisingly
didnt take the chances that were presented to them, A fine cross from
Alan O Donovan was converted by Johnny Mernagh with his head! After
this Athenry has numerous chances to finish off a stubborn home side
that only really threatened from set pieces. Athenry now face Carbury
FC in the Final In Terryland Park May 19th @ 6.30pm

Athenry defeat Ballinasloe 0-2 to progress to Connacht Cup Semi
Final against Abbey Utd(Sligo League)
Two goals in
the second half from Paddy Quinn and Stephen Rabbitte gave athenry
a fine victory over the Roscommon District League Champions to qualify
for the Connacht Cup Semi Final. Athenry will face Sligo Champions
Abbey Utd in Sligo on the 22nd April. Supporter Bus details will
follow.
18-9-06 Athenry keep pressure on leaders with home win vs
Dynamo Blues
Athenry were
well deserving 2-1 victors over Dynamo Blues with Jamie O Driscoll
getting a fine opener through a stephen rabbite delivery and Jonathan
Mernagh gettting the winner. This moves Athenry to second in the
table 1 point behind Mervue Utd.

Classic final in store in FAI Statoil Junior Cup
Then there were two …. The two Cup finalists from an original
entry of 624 teams deserve nothing but praise for their achievement
in qualifying for the climax to a demanding competition on Saturday
at Terryland Park, Galway.

Paddy Quinn called into Irish Junior International Squad
The club was
informed on Wednesday last, that our captain, Paddy Quinn has been
called into Gerry Smith's Irish Amateur squad. The team, which is
made up of players from Intermediate & Junior clubs, will meet
up on Friday 12th May.Congrats to Paddy on being on our first junior
player to be called into the international setup.

Athenry
went down 3-2 to Bangor Celtic on Sunday 7th May in the clubs first
venture in the FAI Carlsberg Cup.Two
goals from Niall Gibbons after 18 mins put Athenry in the driving
seat but Bangor came back with 3 in reply the progress to face Shelbourne
in the second round.

Athenry defeat Castlebar Celtic 1-3 in Semi Finals
Athenry
make history & qualify for the FAI Junior Cup Final in style
by seeing off Castlebar Celtic 3-1 in front of a massive crowd in
Milebush Park. Athenry now face Waterford Crystal in the Final in
Terryland Park on 20th May.

Athenry complete League Program with 0-4 victory over Salthill Devon
In the final league game of the 2005/06 season , Athenry completed
their Premier league campaign with a fine 0-4 victory over Salthill
Devon in Drom. Cathal Fahy opened the scoring with a header from
a Paddy Quinn cross.Jonathan Keane scored a Stephen Gerard like
effort from outside the box for the second & Johnny Mernagh
added two more to his seasons tally with two great strikes to take
his personal tally over the 30 mark for the season.

Athenry defeat Corrib Rangers 2-1 in Premier League
Athenry came from one down to defeat Corrib Rangers on Wednesday
with the goals from Niall Gibbons & an OG. This defeat meant
Corrib Rangers unluckily missed out on a playoff with Hibs for the
Premier League title. Well done to all involved as there were a
number of regulars absent from the lineup. Athenry face Salthill
Devon this weekend in their last League match of the season, Saturday
13 May @ 7.00 in Drom.

defeated UL Ashling Annacotty 4:3 on penalties on Sunday to qualify
for the last four for the first time in the club's history.
In front of a crowd of over 750 supporters, Mickey Quinn scored
the decisive penalty to send Athenry into the FAI Junior Cup Semi
Finals. ~

Athenry hit Corofin for 10
Athenry
gained 3 valuable points on Sunday last to keep in touch with the
top 2. Athenry scored 6 in the first half and never looked under
any pressure from the visitors. A fine workmanllike performance
from all involved contributed to Athenrys highest league victory.
Scorers for Athenry were Johnny Mernagh (3),Paddy Quinn, Mickey
Quinn, Brian Costello, Ollie Keogh (2), Ronan Kineen and Alan Lynch.

Athenry Defeat Mervue Utd 2-3
A brace of second half
goals from Jonathan Keane and a late winner from Johnny Mernagh
gave Athenry a great comeback victory in Mervue on sunday last.
Athenry came back from 2-0 down to the home side to record yet another
away victory this season. Well done to all involved in a great comeback.Athenry
now move above Mervue to within 4 points of Rangers.

Athenry defeat Dublin Bus 0-1 to reach Quarter Finals in the FAI
Junior Cup
A Stephen Rabbitte penalty
early in the second half sent Athenry through to the last 8 of this
seasons FAI Junior cup. In a hard fought game where Athenry were
missing three regulars and lost Cathal Fahy & Ronan Kinneen
through injury, Athenry gained the upper hand with 30 mins left
in the tie and held on to record another away victory, the 6th in
succession in this years FAI Junior cup. A home draw is surely on
the cards for the Quarters!
