After more than a decade of self-paid college education, I have been thinking, trying to find a way to combine the best of all systems which have "graced" our world. There has to be a way to maximize individual freedom while still maintaining order. There has to be a way to ensure that the entire world is fed and clothed without sacrificing the personal satisfaction which comes from personal possessions. There has to be a way to have a religious system in which we can take comfort about our mortality without increasing intolerance and degenerating into religious wars. There has to be a way that people can procreate without decreasing their standard of living or being transformed into full-time custodians. There has to be a way for "family" to be a big enough concept to include everyone, even those incapable or unwilling to have children. There has to be a way for law to be based on democratic principles without becoming mob rule - which is the dominant force of most policies in western societies.

     I have come up with some alternatives to the way things operate now.

     The purpose of this page is to "bounce" these ideas off of you. What do you think? Do you think they would work, or make things worse? Why? Would you want to live in that society? Do you have a better solution? Though this is not a newsgroup, per se, I will do my best to print any responses received, and even alter the basic premises based upon your knowledge and ideas. Through the combined mental efforts of what I hope will be hundreds of people, I believe we CAN create a scheme to rebuild society and tear down all of the social ills which have plagued our world.

     Here's how it works. Find a particular institution that interests you the most (or all of them if you wish), read the current plan for rebuilding that institution, along with the pros and cons for that plan, then, if you have anything to add or comments to make, e-mail them to me. I am NOT a censor, so you can be sure that I will respond to your comments (even if you are just "flaming"). As comments are made, I will alter the plan for rebuilding a particular institution to try to remedy any ills which are mentioned. Then the process can start again.

     An ideal society is a global concept; therefore, I also want input from non-US societies. I'm not so nationalistic as to assume that the US has all of the answers, I'm sure you have thoughts that no one in the US has ever had.

     This is just the beginning. The results of this meeting of the minds may end up in a book. They may end up in a doctorate thesis. I will certainly try to get a copy of this page onto more sites to reach more minds. I want this site to continue until we have exhausted our ideas, until all involved can feel comfortably sure that, yes, this would be the ideal society.

     Together, we can REBUILD SOCIETY.
